Was the idea of a Lainchan-related Wiki ever discussed and if so, what was the rational behind not creating one? The threads on /sec/ and /tech/ are really getting repetitive and it's the same fuarking soykaf over and over again. Apparently lurking more doesn't really help, so why not make an effort for a centralized repository of knowledge, where newlains can lookup what they need and find concise answers? The Wiki's theme would be about SEL (duh), but also about /sec/-, /tech/-, /λ/-related topics. I think it would be beneficial for the whole imageboard as a whole to have something like that. Setting up MediaWiki isn't particularly hard and maintaining it, is okay. The Wiki should have neutral and informative articles, where possible and reflect multiple viewpoints of things, where that is not possible.

What is SEL?
And wiki sounds nice. Mediawiki is solid.

There have been at least 3 attempts at unoffficial Serial Experiments Lain or Lainchan Wikis, Maintaining mediawiki isn't difficult but it is tedious particularly if you allow anonymous edits.
I don't really the value in hosting an official wiki without additional staff and tooling to deal with the maintenance burden and the knowledge curation burden.
It is taking so much time just to restore the radio , and to curate it and sort it out, sorting out additional arbitrary wiki pages of knowledge is so much more work.

What if lainons just edited https://lain.wiki instead? Would the lain.wiki admins be fine if the scope of the wiki went to discussing /sec/-, /tech/-, /λ/-related topics as well? The wiki already has a links to lainchan and wirechan on the front page so maybe they'd be fine with that.

there is a moderation extension that makes operating a small wiki considerably less irksome
