Yep, they just did it again. Arbitrary deletion after deletion after deletion. Lainchan is done, if it ever even was to begin with.
I have no particular attachment to that thread but I saw it greyed out in my thread watcher and thought yep, no surprises there. It's Lainchan, of course a longstanding thread with hundreds of replies will be active when you go to sleep and then just silently greyed out when you wake up. Of course it is.
I would link the wayback machine for convenience, but turned off my auto-archiving script a while ago. I've included the link so a person can search for older versions themselves. Most of the posts were probably archived. Which defeats the chan concept and spirit imo, arching. But then again, so does what the fnckheads imagining that they run things do as well.
With their new image OCR "go away spammer" function, it's essentially getting to be facebook and imgur censorship tier at this point. There's something really wrong with this place.

Typical response. My mind has a massive predictor tree and probably already knows every output you could possibly produce. Within a sentence or two it's narrowed down to a few branches, not even large ones, and you will offer no surprises. The outcome of interaction with people like you is 100% determined by my choices, you bring nothing to the table and simply react.
It's weird because I'veseen Apple-dumbfnck1234 post materials about cult deprogramming, hypnosis, and SRA / ritual abuse-like aftereffects. Yet he allows this site to run this way.

There was no reason to remove it. It's been sitting there for nearly a year. It fell back a few pages, then someone bumped it. A mod noticed and deleted it. I've tried to post in /q/ in the past and my threads never appear, gives some error. Then again the rest of the boards used to give that message too and it seems to have been fixed, so don't know.
I don't really give a sh!t about their "don't criticize me!" enumerated formalisms (rules) tbqh, beyond what it compels them to do. This is not the first time they've done this. More than likely a particular mod or Appleman will jump in eventually, if anything at all, and provide some vague justification, never admit fault, and hope to quietly sweep it under the rug and let it fade away like all the other times. Once you admit fault, they have you, never admit, never submit, always maintain the superior position, always remain opaque, everyone knows this. Totally predictable behavior from anything that likes to make its way into management-like positions, such as moderators. Often applies to admins founders and staff, but not always.
We will see. Your more fair and even tempered attitude is probably better for this overall. But again, I've seen this happen so many times and in so many ways.

that's right in term of moral if we are speaking about a society of wise men. in reality however people are not trained in philosophy, as such most of them (you included) make decisions based on the model of the least self harm to benefit ratio. shooting somebody in the head when you can avoid them is not wise in terms of the ratio, but deleting an unbearable thread is perfectly safe for the moderator. in this light your analogy in invalid
if, however, we go into philosophy, and speak philosophically, which is ironic considering the level of intelligence of all the interlocutors, then indeed a man who makes a tyrant of himself for reasons such as grief or irritation is a bad man, and should improve himself. you only forget that if we begin in philosophy, then the retarded thread didn't have to exist in the first place. inflexibility of mind of those who posted in the thread can not be amended by any reasonable approach and would probably take a sage with skill more on Socratic level. since there are no such people in here, it follows that the only way to restore order is to enforce a rule. you are being retarded, mods get irritated, they see futility of arguing with you, they remove you. i can't imagine how you could expect anything else. well, i just lied. i can imagine it perfectly well

The rational free agent theory is easily debunked by just looking around. The average person is neither rational, nor a free agent, nor do they fine tune their internal metrics and feedback loops for relevant personal gain. Personal net gain, risk:benefit, etc are all byproducts of what's actually happening.
I'm sorry dude but when people pull this "the average person is le selfish gene" BS I just have to ask myself if it's wishful thinking, autism (ie a false sensation that everyone normal knows what they're doing and is in on it), or they're just totally asleep at the wheel in general. >so discussion leads to falsehood?
a bad argument leads to a bad conclusion, no? free speech in itself does not grant emergence of truth. a party of blind men will not see the light of sun no matter how hard they rationalize

>if freedom of speech means anything, it should be to tell people what they don't like to hear.
exactly what i'm doing here all day, haha. anyway telling people what they don't like doesn't actually guarantee you to approach their opinions. it works sometimes, but in other cases it's like hitting a wall. trying to categorize things universally is not clever at all, stop being retarded and saying things like "if X means anything it is to do Y". you don't give soykaf, just accept that. if X means anything, goddamn, good thing it means anything, but trying to fit it in a narrow frame of deterministic applications is gonna fail. this actually gives me a clue that you don't actually give a fuarrrk what is free speech and why we need it at all. you're like a linux monkey that spew around their hymns to free software claiming how good it is, when in reality 95% of them just follow mainstream and don't give a single fuarrrk about why exactly they use free software, except perhaps "muh windows is crap" (which is true and is probably their only valid argument which they use as a universal fallback to avoid being humiliated).

this says you're fundamentally retarded. sorry, actually you're not. you're not cut out for introspection. your mind is void, you don't fill it, so whenever you try to introspect, you drown in that void and in horror you run away from it. you're so unaware of your actions that you even fail to recognize, that you never do what you think is bad for you. let me chew it for you, of all possible routes you always choose that which you think is the best for you.
that said you make yourself a proof of your own mind being a black hole. why you say that responding to me is unwise and still do it is beyond me. you spew words, but you do not believe them, you do not own them, you separate them from you. you say one and proceed to do something else. you're in a sad condition

Yet sunlight is a good disinfectant and the blind men would at least feel its warmth on their skin and the approximate direction. And if nothing else they're at least being outside, maybe you should try that too before writing more nonsense and lacking self awareness about it.
>The more I debated with them the more familiar I became with their argumentative tactics. At the outset they counted upon the stupidity of their opponents, but when they got so entangled that they could not find a way out they played the trick of acting as innocent simpletons. Should they fail, in spite of their tricks of logic, they acted as if they could not understand the counter arguments and bolted away to another field of discussion.
A bad faith argument still shows how bad your argument must be if that's what you have to resort to.

the thread you're talking about was a bot that spammed hundreds of different sites with the same copypasta. you're either a bad faith actor whos trying to force meme something unoriginal, or a retard who fell for it. either way, this isn't the place for you.

You're manufacturing a reason for the deletion ad hoc. The timestamps are right in the image, you left it sitting there for nearly a year.
This pattern of excuses is boring and stupid, stop doing it. No one buys it. It's not clever, professional, or whatever you think it is. The whole template is just dumb.

Hey OP, what's all this about? I need an explanation.
First things first:
I found out that, while your thread was deleted, you managed to screencap it entirely. I just copy text from my threads to Notepad and that also works.
Second:
The thread in question was to do with the COVID-19 pandemic that hit hard in 2020, and it was a heavy-going problem. Technology had to stand up with Zoom calls, we had to walk outside our homes at some point to help us feel good in these dark times, and get vaccinated.
But, what is "arbitrary deletion" or "OCR"? This is something that mods here can answer to.
>Facebook and Imgur censorship
I'm covering login auth and censorship blocks via /r/, you should check it out since I am researching a way to reverse the problem entirely.
>>12644
Should've been:
>"You can always discuss your specific topics on specific imageboards which are plenty"
>>12649

>>12697
Weird; I don't call it bot spam but strange goings-on with a COVID-19 thread ending up as a 'copypasta', if anything is to go by.
Also, that's a relaxing image you've got there, OP. (Not being sarcastic, but there you go)

>I found out that, while your thread was deleted, you managed to screencap it entirely. I just copy text from my threads to Notepad and that also works.
It wasn't my thread. I could only only screencap it because I left it up in another tab. Otherwise I use archive.ph or run a script the automatically submits the URL to archive.org if the page has changed. I don't like doing this on altchans, but staff here make it necessary.
>Also, that's a relaxing image you've got there, OP. (Not being sarcastic, but there you go)
Thank you, I'm glad it's benefitting someone. Your post number is highly significant to current events in my life, which I can't seem to resolve. So with that I'll say that this matter is no longer my problem, though aspects of the thread were enjoyable and amusing at the time,

That isn't what I said, at all. I'll clarify and give you all the information you're baiting for. The script simply checks pages when I visit them. It checks it against archive.org, and if it's been a certain amount of time since the last snapshot, and the page has changed, it submits it again.
I don't screenshot anything. I just stated, very clearly and directly and with no ambiguity *at all*, that I screenshotted the thread via it still being open in a tab.
You have no reading comprehension at all. It's disgusting and there's something wrong with you. I feel like continuing to interact with you will impart some subtle psychological damage on me as well just by having to interpret your behavior.
>lo, whatever would we do without your valient efforts to protect Free Speach by ... simping for retards who use BUGS bunny (or whatever software storm users / the FBI have these days) to astroturf soykafty opinions on imageboards. truly, you are the savior of internet.
From one solipsist to another, this is all just made up. You're outputting your own interaction with internal stimuli and expecting me to react to it. Not happening buddy. Total yawn.
>you didnt call it that lol. that was my post, fuarrrk off skinwalker.
How old are you? They're making 17 to 22s pretty screwed up these days I guess. I mean I had problems but this is really something else. the point is that nobody believes your concern trolling.
you yourself have stated that you've chosen to enable this feature on lainchan specifically because you think moderators doing routine cleanup of spam is state or institutional censorship, and meant to suppress the truth. whether the OP was yours or not, my point still stands: you either are lying in wait for someone to "censor" the spam, so you can make a whole dramatic issue out of it, or you are an idiot. some mix of the two, probably.
>From one solipsist to another, this is all just made up
its not made up that the OP you're whining over the deletion of was posted to many different imageboards and other websites, nor is it that there are tools that make this easy. if you don't know what stormfront is then i don't know what to tell you: aren't you supposed to be much older?
> I feel like continuing to interact with you will impart some subtle psychological damage on me as well just by having to interpret your behavior.
it will. in fact everything i say is an infohazard, exposure to these new ideas will be so damaging to your meticulously contrived worldview and psyche that you may need to be hospitalized, or at least spend 6 months rehabilitation browsing gamergate forums in your mother's basement. we call it "lainchan's basilisk".

Poor reading comprehension again. I have it running in several places. So yes, you can track my pattern of activity by this means. Go right ahead.
> because you think moderators doing routine cleanup of spam
Spin.
>is state or institutional censorship
Made up. Borderline schizophrenic. Basically penetration testing, looking for an angle and seeing what sticks. Sloppy job, bot tier anger baiting behavior.
>its not made up that the OP you're whining over the deletion of was posted to many different imageboards and other websites, nor is it that there are tools that make this easy.
Do you think this is smooth rhetoric or something? You're like a pattern matching bot that just does whatever seemed to work last time with no comprehension. Shut the fnck up for once in your life buddy, you might learn something.
>aren't you supposed to be much older?
Nice dodge attempt. "Tell me your age first."
> exposure to these new ideas will be so damaging to your meticulously contrived worldview and psyche that [blah blah blah]
Buddy, you're like talking to a wall. There's nothing new about it, it's just obnoxious.
I'm failing to learn the real lesson again. Okay, we're done here. There's no need to interact with something just because it tries to engage with me. I can't repair the world because that's not what people want, they aren't like me at all.
Zero Cool · 2024-06-10 20:26

I think you're the one who needs to work on reading comprehension. nobody is saying you're trackable (thanks for the hot tip on your posting habits, but it was already obvious), it's the part where you said
>I don't like doing this on altchans, but staff here make it necessary.
and, in the OP,
>With their new image OCR "go away spammer" function [which has always existed], it's essentially getting to be facebook and imgur censorship tier at this point. There's something really wrong with this place.
there's your equation to institutional censorship I'm referring to.
>spin
are you not the person trying to frame this whole thing as some draconian censorship regime, and ~not in the spirit of chans~? I'll give you a hint why the thread was removed when it was. it has to do with the "report" button.
>do you think this is smooth rhetoric? Nice dodge attempt. "Tell me your age first."
Sorry if this disappoints you, but I'm 30. I understand you might not want to talk anymore, though, knowing I'm not a child - goodbye stormfriend.

Oh based, mod. Is it possible to also be a mod. I used to go to lainchan quite frequently and started like 3+ very long lasting boards attempting to moderate them by reporting off topic comments then went off when too much CP dropped, - I wonder if this kind of work can be done hands-on. I’ll look at the opportunities for contacting lainstaff, but I’m just overall curious if it’s possible to join.
Haruyoshi · 2024-06-11 01:39
am i correct in believing that if the mods just let the thread sit instead of deleting it, it would have just been outbumped back to obscurity instead of this whole situation now?

basically.
It was going to fade into obscurity until someone posted in it. and back on the threadmill it would have gone. Until it would have been outbumped so much it gets deleted automatically.
No threads is supposed to survive with no interactions for a long time on this site.
This is why lainons say "A thread died for this"

thinking about it again there seem to have been a few legitimate reasons mixed in with the censorship thing.
i apologize to anyone if i came across as abrasive...
it's just that i feel that the internet is a wonderful place for freedoms not even known before and that they are being threatened, so one way or another i gotta do something to defend it... so i get theatrical and jump in dramatically often without really knowing what got censored. i just think that thoughts, data, content, all that is precious to me, every day i see cool soykaf disappear, so i get defensive. sorry?

This is some kind of torture simulation. It's so fuarrrking hard, it all seems so scripted, and I don't understand. I don't get it. Why don't I get to have anything? Why is there something fundamnetal missing in me so my entire existence is just pain pain pain pain PAIN, mistake mistake mistake mistake, and nothing else.

Step #1 to getting people to start caring about your thoughts and feelings is to acknowledge that they also have thoughts and feelings. It's *always* a two-way street. There is no point in posting anything to the wired if you don't think anyone reading what you write is actually a person, and there is no point in other people interacting with you in good faith if you aren't even going to acknowledge their basic humanity. Hence why calling anyone that disagrees with you a "bot" is the most unproductive way you could ever interact with someone online.
