Just discovered the site, small questions. Can /hum/ be used to discuss self improvement (fitness and such) also what is soykaf, and can i say slurs like nigger

>Can /hum/ be used to discuss self improvement (fitness and such) Yeah I remember there was a thread about self improvement a while back. don't know if it's still kicking around in the catalog. >what is soykaf Lainchan has a word filter. Sometimes just outright doesn't let you say one or two words (that i know off) or, most commonly, will correct sh1t to soykaf. i personally like it. (also hi welc :) )

/hum/ can be used for anything related to humans basically so that would include fitness there have been a fair few fitness threads in the past racism and slurs and swastikas are welcome as long as your not a just spamming the place with garbage and politics is fine as long as your not breaking the rules

>>12066 >> racism and slurs and swastikas are welcome This is soykaf right here. racism is not welcome and is an indication of tribalism along with possibly Rule 3 & Rule 4 violations. Slurs are tolerared but generally result in your post or the thread getting deleted, especially if you tell people to kill themselves or harm themselves or otherwise include a slur without context that becomes a Rule 3 or Rule 4 violation. Some slurs have existing filters or language enhancers to prevent / supplant & minimise their usage. swastikas and other symbols are fine, but making us vs them (tribalism threads) that lead to bickering and Rule 3 & 4 violations is just asking to have your thread deleted.

>>12074 NTL and not a racist, I see two big problems with online racist discourse. One, it tends to be the domain of obnoxious right wing activists, whose worldview is that almost everything has to do with race and every problem has racial origins, so they will derail whatever they can to be about racial politics, and they have no shame about using manipulative or bad faith non-arguments because they want to propagandize rather than listen to what anyone else has to say, and this makes for soykaf quality discussion. Two, it's not a great environment for "free speech" if the general tone and belief seems to be that you don't have a right to exist or be treated as a person or be heard and the basics of your life and dignity should be stripped away from you. It is difficult to speak your mind if it seems like you are being personally threatened, and creating perceived social proof of this kind of threat seems to be a common strategy of racist activists. IMO being technically allowed to say words is not enough for free speech, to get its benefits people must also feel reasonably comfortable to exist in the space and express their actual thoughts, that's tough if it seems like everyone wants you dead or dehumanized. I think that ideologies rejecting the personhood of certain categories of people are inherently destructive to free expression, a bare minimum of trust and goodwill is needed.

>>12077 It's unhealthy for discussion. e.g. if you call someone retarded you are at least making a claim about them that's falsifiable. They can try to refute that or argue with you. If you call them a kike or a nigger or go off on an unhinged rant about another race, there's nothing of substance there that can be debated. It's just soykafflinging that poisons discussion and discourages meaningful contribution and lowers the quality of the site. If people feel like they have to deal with soykafflinging racists they will be less likely to contribute and racist soykafflingers are all about derailing discussions so they can spread the cancer everywhere.
Koichiro · 2023-11-18 16:03
>>12078 I don't know, I mean, the majority of the time kike, nigger, and retard are pretty much just used to mean the same thing to be honest. If I'm honest, I'm "racist" but I'm not gonna treat people like soykaf because of something they had no choice in.
Dr. X · 2023-11-18 18:11
>>12078 That's some real hard backpeddaling you're doing there I'm impressed. I take it you agree that anyone who isnt a retard doesn't easily feel personally threatened on here ? Anyway what you seem to be talking about is personal insults, most of the use I see of the term nigger on here is about specifically niggers. I recall the word kike maybe being swapped to 'German' right ? This is horrible. At least glitterboy isnt a word for a specific well known thing in the same category but deffinitly not fvggots. People intentionally say 'german' to mean 'german'. >>12079 hard disagree I very rarely see (at least on lainchan IDK where you hang out) the word nigger to mean anything but literally a nigger. Likewise for kike. retard is a little looser in the same way as autist, but it means you're doing something stupid so its not really off the mark. Also just banning these words will make people either come up with workarounds or just use them and everyone here knows what glitterboy means. If you think wordswapping the word glitterboy means people wont call eachother glitterboys well I think that means youre a glitterboy.
Molly Millions · 2023-11-19 05:48
>>12079 Not every use of a slur is inherently racist. It all depends on how you say it and how you use it. >>12080 Your confusing me with some other lain. No I'm not just talking about personal insults. Calling someone stupid or retarded is a personal insult but its an insult that makes a claim i.e. that person is or is not of low intelligence. This is a claim that's falsifiable. It can be refuted or debated. A racial insult, that is a genuinely racist use of the term, like calling a black man a nigger, a Jew a kike or Arabs mudslimes etc. doesn't assert a fact worth debating. It's pure soykafflinging that the other side can't respond to it in any meaningful way. It shuts down debate and is meant to sabotage discussion. If you make a joke that drops the nigger word or call someone a nigger as just another way of calling them a retard or in a friendly joking manner then that's not inherently racist and it's not just soykafflinging either because the other side can actually respond. But you'll see a lot of right wingers and racists say dumb soykaf about niggers and nig this or nig that and there's nothing there worth responding to because these are not reasonable claims that are either true or false and can be debated. It's just soykafflinging meant to poison threads or trigger arguments and propagandize their brain dead views. >Also just banning these words will make people either come up with workarounds or just use them True, but excessively throwing around taboo insults tends to attract the wrong kinds of posters and quality will drop so filter words make sense sometimes.
Junichi Fujiwara · 2023-11-19 23:46
>>12081 >retard is falsifiable, nigger is not On the contrary, its a lot more easy to prove that you're not a nigger, than it is to prove that you're not a retard, (assuming you aren't a nigger or a retard respectively), but in any thread where you get called such a thing, disputing it is just gonna make you look petty and also derail the thread. >lot of right wing racists talk about niggers and nig this nig that, unreasonable claims that cannot be debated. I honestly don't know what threads you're reading on here. A recent example I saw here was the one about immigration. Guy is asking about moving from abroad to the American South. Thread had a lot of talk about niggers, none of it personal insults, mostly just giving advice and talking about practical and normal concerns imho for people in USA. Comments about niggers in general are provable true or false as much as comments about any group of people, if you object to them as unverifiable and undebateable, then you should probably object to all of /hum/, which to be fair, maybe you should....... >excessively throwing around taboo insults attracts the wrong crowd This statement is nearly unfalsifiable, at least without some significant experiment that would be difficult but interesting to conduct. I don't dislike filters so long as they don't add confusion and ambiguity for regulars, well done they like frolicking with happy whales in the sea, or at any rate slightly amusing.
H.R. Giger · 2023-11-22 16:28
>>12084 It depends in what sense you use the word nigger. If used as a personal insult it doesn't do anything but poison debate, like every personal insult except there's no real response to it. I don't remember exactly but the guy in that thread derailed the conversation to make the discussion about race. It was off-topic, in bad faith and tribal. Racism is bad for discussion sites because it encourages low quality posts and people on the receiving end are less likely to contribute if they feel their not going to be listened to fairly. I'm not saying that about this site just sites in general. >Comments about niggers in general are provable true or false as much as comments about any group of people Maybe, but that depends on if there's anything worth debating. If a guy starts vomiting race/culture wars stuff in a thread that's just bad generally and usually they aren't arguing in good faith, just trying to propagandize or bait responses. For example, if a guy is going around flippantly throwing around the nigger word while implying blacks are violent and criminal, is he actually doing it to have an honest debate on race and crime? Are any amount of statistics and studies likely to sway him? Probably not. Sure, some statements about blacks are falsifiable but the poster isn't interested in discussion just pushing an agenda and not an agenda that's open to serious discussion. Not every statement has to be falsifiable according to a strict scientific method e.g. "I think God exists because..." isn't scientifically testable but you can reason with it.
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2023-11-22 21:09
>>12090 > is he actually doing it to have an honest debate on race and crime? Are any amount of statistics and studies likely to sway him? Probably not. I think I'm the guy you are talking about and I was specifically posting statistics that prove the contrary... and I wasn't trying to debate because there's nothing to "debate" nor is there any reason to "debate." Incidentally, people who are "anti-racist" tend to not want to hear it. It's fine, most people own up and admit that they're intentionally avoiding things that could change how they view the world. I understand that, maybe you know one or two nice black people that aren't a problem, or you sympathize or whatever. It doesn't matter to me, because I'm not here to "push an agenda". I don't have one and I don't care. The guy asked a question and I live in one of the states he mentioned and gave my response, both on my personal experience and based on statistics. My suggestion was that avoid them when possible. It only got "bad" when someone decided to try to "debate" about it, which I might add is almost exclusively ever done with ad hominems and without any good faith. Honestly, I wouldn't have even mentioned the entire nigger thing if the OP hadn't came out and said "I am white" which implies he cares about race, even if just enough to find it worth mentioning.
Ivan Horvat · 2023-11-25 15:31
>>12091 >and I wasn't trying to debate because there's nothing to "debate" nor is there any reason to "debate." Seems like this is the root cause. You don't come to this board to have an honest discussion.
Lord Nikon · 2023-11-25 23:58
>>12090 >personal insults are bad yes, sure, gratuitous personal insults don't really contribute to discussion. Once in a while they can be used to emphasize a point or draw attention to a particular idiocy but generally should be frowned upon. This has nothing to do with slurs, slurs are just a popular and generally unambiguous way to make personal insults. >racism is bad for discussion because it encourages low quality posting, gives appearance of unfairness unfortunately the same is true about most antiracism, which seems generally to manage to be stupider and more dogmatically blind to counterpoint or counter argument. Maybe the solution is to not talk about race at all, but unfortunately its relevant to a high number of /hum/ type threads. >if a guy starts vomiting race & culture war soykaf in a thread thats bad, and usually bad faith. again, consider the 'moving to the south of the US' thread. Race is on topic, culture war is on topic, niggers are on topic. Maybe I missed some posts in there but the whole thread seemed to be plausibly in good faith last I saw of it (t. autist). >if a guy is going around flippantly throwing around the nigger word while implying blacks are violent and criminal, is he actually doing it to have an honest debate on race and crime? This is bait. Blacks cause a significantly disproportionate amount of violent crime in the US and everyone who isnt actively gouging his eyes out knows this. If you disagree its very likely that you are the dogmatically blind person who is not arguing in good faith. Obviously bad faith arguments can be made for any claim, and broken clocks are right twice a day, so to answer your question, maybe yes, maybe no. But sometimes yes, I'm quite sure of that.
Dr. X · 2023-12-04 14:38
>>12094 How can personal insults be used to emphasize a point? The majority of insults aren't falsifiable statements or arguments so they add nothing to the debate in terms of the logical substance of the discussion. The only reason they should be allowed is because they make more entertaining and as a rhetorically valuable debating tactic and this is a message board not some professional gig. Why do you think they are not allowed in congress or in a court of law? If they actually strengthened arguments they would be but they don't. If you honestly wanted to make the point that A. anti-racists ignore evidence unfavorable to their opinion B. a disproportionately high amount of crime is committed by blacks, then you could have done so without liberally throwing around racial slurs that didn't help your argument at all. I don't see how discussing this was actually relevant either OP asked about moving to the American South as an Eastern European and you proceeded to steer the conversation away to race and crime. Sure, the "will they accept me if I'm Eastern European?" is a pretty valid question and could segue into issues around race or immigration, but not necessarily so. It just seems you used that opening to introduce culture wars nonsense into a thread and derail the discussion, which your doing now when you make these claims about crime or anti-racists being dogmatically blind and stupid. What they are like or what blacks are like is irrelevant to the topic (are racial slurs are bad? for or against). Its somewhat disingenuous anyway because whites commit the vast majority of war crimes, but if someone is flippantly throwing around anti-white racial insults it isn't necessarily relevant to sane conversation on US and Russian war crimes. You don't need to say these things to make a point and they don't emphasize anything. Its just a sign of someone acting in bad faith and using the fact of war crimes as an excuse to soykaf on white people and go off topic. The whole point of an anonymous discussion board (at least one focused on serious business) is to judge posts on their content not the skin color of the person making the post. So racism only defeats the purpose of a site. This is all pointless anyway considering this is an imageboard, a spectacular failed social experiment from the 2000s, so serious discussion is like kicking dead whales down the beach anyway but you can't deny that hateful and spiteful posting generally ruins the atmosphere and people should avoid it.
Netrunner · 2023-12-07 23:44
>>12102 >How can personal insults be used to emphasize a point? Suppose you post something dumb. I might tell you you're wrong politely, but calling you a retard highlights my claims in a way difficult to do otherwise. Its neither falsifiable nor defensible, not more than some other word is, its just part of speech. >Why do you think they are not allowed in congress nor courts of law because congress is full of glitterboys, and by the way claiming to be retarded is a commonly accepted legal defense. >if you xxx, then you could have done so without liberally throwing around racial slurs If I wanted to, I could describe my position entirely without the use of the letter 'a', which does not effectively contribute to my points by itself. My custom is to use it. >You don't need to say these things to make a point and they don't emphasize anything No I don't need to say them, any more than I need to use the letter A, but they do seem to have gotten your attention, so I think their emphatic prowess is a settled matter. >you did x y z derail the thread as this deleted thread fades from my memory I find it difficult to defend myself on these points, but I do believe the topic more-or-less stayed pertinent to the scope presented in the OP, which I seem to recall not just being 'will I be accepted' so much as a general request for advice given the premise. Maybe I missed or skimmed over these specific posts you're talking about, they do sound off topic, but clearly discussion of racial issues is called for, it would be a badge of shame for the board if the thread went without mentioning them. >The whole point of an anonymous discussion board (at least one focused on serious business) is to judge posts on their content not the skin color of the person making the post. Apart from the horrible misconception that race is merely skin color, I fail to see the connection between the use of racial slurs and any strong ability to judge posters by their race, these are separate issues. you just seem to dislike certain words because they fall on this or that side of some arbitrary line today. >chans suck yet here you are.... >you can't deny that hateful and spiteful posting generally ruins the atmosphere and people should avoid it. in the thread we're discussing, posting things you hate about certain races in the American South is entirely called for. Its not personal, its just a guy asking for advice, and getting it. As for whether hateful and spiteful posting ruins the atmosphere, I'd say whining ruins it more, and gratuitous use of certain slurs is possibly a good way to drive out certain types of people. Why are you still here ?

>>12093 What are you talking about? You do know that here is more to discussion than debate, right? >calling you a retard highlights my claims in a way difficult to do otherwise. Its neither falsifiable nor defensible, not more than some other word is, its just part of speech. The term "retard" is an insult, but it asserts a set of qualities (low intelligence, stupidity, asinine behavior) about another person. This assertion can be refuted or argued against, that person can reasonably attempt to demonstrate how they are not stupid, low intelligent etc. When used as a racial insult, "nigger' says nothing about the other person beyond the fact they are black which is already given. In this context it has no logical substance. It is not making claim or asserting something about an object that can be reasonably demonstrated to be either true or false. It adds nothing to the discussion whereas at least words like retard and glitterboy can. >because congress is full of glitterboys, and by the way claiming to be retarded is a commonly accepted legal defense. Ok let me rephrase that: in a common law court, in a civil law court, in a roman court since the time of Justinian, hurling a slur with no logical substance has never been acceptable because it adds nothing to the discussion. If you call me a nigger on racial grounds, there's nothing there worth discussing. It's not making a point, furthering an argument or making a claim. It's just soykaf flinging and disruption. >I could describe my position entirely without the use of the letter 'a', which does not effectively contribute to my points by itself. Besides the point. Does making a sentence without the letter "a" poison the thread? Does it derail discussion? Does it incite bullshit? No. What did you achieve by spamming racial insults? Nothing. It didn't make you more convincing or believable. All it did was steer the discussion away from the topic to your preferred topic (race) which I'm guessing was your real objective all along. >discussion of racial issues is called for, How were racial issues like blacks, avoiding blacks, black crime, black behavior, your personal feelings on blacks etc. in any way related to what was basically a "I'm moving to America gimme advice" thread? You've failed to demonstrate that. >posting things you hate about certain races in the American South is entirely called for. Its not personal, its just a guy asking for advice, and getting it So posting about the things you personally hate isn't personal? OP didn't ask about race once until you inserted it.
Case · 2023-12-22 21:26
>>12119 On insults and slurs In a place like this there are two classes of insult, internal and external. Internal ones are about people in the room with us ('you are a retard', 'poster No. 12110 has an unshaply nose'), external ones are about people outside or presumed to be outside ('congress is full of glitterboys'). Insults don't need to use slurs, I could call you a liar in the most polite fashion possible and that still would be an insult. Certain people might construe certain slurs as necessarily insulting, but this is clearly not universally the case. Slurs are just words and by themselves are not logical arguments, that is correct. Many slurs have functionally equivalent polite phrasings and in logical arguments the polite and impolite versions are functionally identical from that perspective, although rhetorically they are not. >How were racial issues [...] in any way related to what was basically a "I'm moving to America gimme advice" thread? I didn't try to demonstrate it because its obviously relevant. Apparently you are a little daft, forgive my presumption. Race is a decent predictor for a host of traits, including behavioral traits. Neighborhoods and cities with very high concentrations of people of one race are generally quite different from otherwise somewhat similar neighborhoods with people of different races. This has a lot of effects, crime rates, noise and light pollution, quality of buildings, what sort of stores are available, etc etc. If I was looking at moving to a new city in America, I'd pull up one of those racial dotmaps and take a gander at it with respect to different apartments or houses in the area. So if a foreigner asks me for advice on moving to America, I'll tell him to think about race, for its what I would do. If he's an east european, maybe he's never met a black, and if he has its fairly likely a high class african emigrant, quite unlike the average american negro. The same goes for his experience with south americans, if he has any at all. As its unlikely that he has much direct experience with some significant racial groups he's likely to deal with in the US, so I tell him what I like to try to do, based on my training and experience: avoid them. And give him a little explanation for why that's the appropriate course of action. ~~~~ The crux of your claim appears that the use of slurs causes an emotional reaction in weak minded people, poisoning their ability to reason, or speak rationally. They judge the post by the surface of its words, and not by the content of its argument. This is a severe disability and I have sympathy for those so afflicted. My advice, should they choose to remain on the Internet, is to install a browser addon like FoxReplace to adjust their reading material to fit their constitutions.

>Can /hum/ be used to discuss self improvement (fitness and such) yes, infact the spiritual precursor to /hum/, /feels/, was intended to be used for self improvement. personally i would not have made /hum/ a board in the first place and found a suitable name for a self-improvement and philosophy board that wasn't so pretentious, incelish, or otherwise r9k-y but hindsight is 20/20. >also what is soykaf, and can i say slurs like nigger here i will unpack what i / others (including mods ftmp) consider to be bad posts that will get deleted or reported and signal low-quality to mods. pics related. >rule 2: do not call for mods or announce reports in the thread using a thread to have conversations with the mods is bad quality and it does not even entertain the users of the website. some mods might respond to the thread but you should expect these posts to be deleted. keep in mind that all soykafposts you make that get deleted are saved in the deletion logs, and that ban logs can be found in https://lainchan.org/bans.html . mods will also analyze your post sentiment or characteristic writing styles to identify users across VPNs etc, and that you're probably not as clever as you think. >rule 3: Always argue in good faith and avoid using personal attacks. you can share relevant info to the OP but if you insult someone else you might still get a warning that counts towards a potential ban and for mods to be not lenient / delete your posts in the future, or similarly to posts like yours, such as advocating the same opinions, using the same words, etc. you might also still get your post deleted if the information being shared isn't especially useful and you insult someone. there are a lot of technical people on lainchan, even if there are also script kiddies who are allowed to ask questions or say dumb soykaf in hopes it will get clarified, there are also smart people who use the site due to the general lack of brewing soykaf, niggerposting, bait, etc. you are not better than these people (or even than the script kiddies for that matter) because you know something, especially something someone else already knows and is willing to share in a more polite conversation. >rule 4: You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. this is a 2 part rule both parts of which are necessary. >elaborate on your opinions and >rather than spilling the soykaf the first part is why most posts get deleted. simply asking a question as OP, or saying simply "no" or "yes" to a question without elaboration would also fit under this rule. this rule exists to encourage high quality discussion, but it is also a rule against data mining threads where OP shares nothing about themselves and asks others about, say, consumer trends, or how to hack, or how to break the law, or what crimes you are currently committing, and so on. like stated earlier in this post saying something like "just install this software nigga" would be another example of low-quality post because, even though it answers the question, that answer is basically meaningless. using off-topic bait images such as in pic related can be removed and mods have the ability to just remove the image too so don't think you're being clever by being otherwise topical and quality (rare) post with bait images because you aren't. >rule 5. Don't respond with aggression to perceived flames or trolls (or at all.) this exists such that even posts which otherwise follow the rules but respond to bait are themselves deleted. there's a number of reasons for this: it gives mods the precedent to remove long bait-fueled arguments that destroy conversations, and it puts the responsibility on you, the user, to not reply to bait or other bad posts or criticize posts outside of /q/. this rule exists because lainchan staff are not your babysitters, it takes two to argue, etc, etc. >rule 6. Do not whine and cry about 8chan, lainchan.jp, "quality", "invasions", "new users", mods, bans, or kalyx outside of /q/. the new users seem to be handling this one badly by complaining about their posts getting deleted, such as in pic related. personally, i feel that these posters know exactly what they're doing and are trying to get a specialty status through self-victimization and making friendly with the moderator so they can push the idea that lainchan is "their site" and chase off any users, whether they be knowledgeable, post high quality, new users, or not, who don't share their opinion. i see it that way because of the amount that they complain about mods censoring them for their opinions: this is a projection, because they can't conceptualize of moderators who aren't babysitting them and it is exactly what they would do in a mod position is babysit the retards who agree with them. it also includes users complaining about those users outside /q/ for the same reasons that rule 5 exists. >rule 7: Do not spam or advertise unrelated content. this includes inserting political content and also includes asking leading questions with a specific answer that promote unrelated content. it can even include citing your soykafty blog or favorite crank selling essential oils, books, etc in your arguments. it also includes posting in the wrong board, although posts that just do this that are of a significantly high quality might just be moved instead. posts can also be deleted for featuring a combination of characteristics that might otherwise fly under the radar for certain posts but doing several of them, such as a thread about drawing in DIY with a leftypol black-army-wave aesthetic pic in OP with no resources or drawings of the OP would get deleted because it is simultaneously a low quality post, in the wrong board, and contains references to unrelated content. using this info, we can apply it to reasoning about why posts like these and others like them are bad and get deleted, an answer to a question that the posters might not themselves understand. you might immediately notice that they're trying to have a conversation with staff in the thread indicating a lack of concern for the rules and expectation that because of their beliefs (which they assume to have sympathetic babysitters) they get an exception to them. but the other reasons are more than that. as we discussed earlier from the rules, posts which might answer the question but do so in a soykafposty/bad-faith or low-effort manner are also in violation of the rules. So, to answer the poster's questions more specifically, discussing certain potentially criminal activity, like running a botnet, or shoplifting, on /diy/ is completely allowed as long as you aren't a retard who implicates themselves in a legal manner - that's a question to ask yourself. however many sorts of highly technical discussions can only take place when you don't give people the impression that there's brewing soykaf and low-quality discussion going on, something that thread derails, bad faith posting, abruptly saying slurs, etc. don't signal. my rule of thumb for these subjects is "if you wouldn't say it in your neighborhood hackerspace, don't say it on lainchan." just because it's on the internet and anonymous doesn't give you a free pass to soykafpost. bad posts in /diy/ get deleted because they try to insert a particularly insufferable and low-quality culture of saying things like fedkike wherever they please, which is only comfortable for a very narrow category of poster, one for whom it doesn't logically follow would care about high quality technical discussion.

>>12075 this. (((Certain people))) will try to make every discussion about race, whether thats the nonfat-soykaf drinkers who say niggerjew, soykike, cia nigger etc every other post and the people who try to have "reasonable" conversations about it. two sides of the same coin, both try to derail every unrelated conversation to be about race, its very easy to simply with 2 VPNs have a "brewing soykaf persona" and a "reasonable race realist" persona, mods know this, everyone knows this and its very absurd that newf♡gs act like they're clever to operate this way - though much of the time, they're actually too stupid to compartmentalize personae this way and are just trying to gaslight particular other posters, while relying on having a sympathetic mod to babysit and protect their post from being deleted. these people inevitably whine and cry the loudest when a mod sees through their soykaf and bans them anyway. I want to add, however, that free speech is and has always been kind of a joke to expect from imageboards which are largely dedicated to talking about tech and other hobbies, or in some cases of high-quality discussion, scientific, career or academic advancement, or dangerous hobbies like drugs that require a degree of scientific certainty. you should not be doing political organizing on public forums like lainchan, you should also not be doing it on "private" but proprietary and profit-driven software like Discord for that matter. for this reason pushing a right-wing political agenda is a form of advertising or worse, especially when subjects like evolutionary biology get discussed and a fraction of the users don't care about evolutionary biology at all because they consider it antithetical to their politics, whether those be "race realist" politics that require them to hyperfixate and (mis)interpret a few specific papers that they feel validate their points or evolutionary or other science denialism. likewise with drugs discussion, chances are they have a religious or political agenda that drugs = bad so they will try to undermine any positive discussion of drugs, feds and jidf employees of course will do things like this too. they will participate in those discussions certainly, but with the very evident ulterior motive of bad-faith argumentation and pushing for a consensus shift on subjects. these sorts of posters are unfortunately ubiquitous online, because they actively theorize how to insert into and press narratives relevant to every topic whether that be editing donald rump hats onto anime girls or claiming the biden administration backdoored their PC. or supposedly being interested in templeos, but in actuality just think of the dev as a meme and want to normalize phrases like cia nigger. even if these behaviors "succeed" by shifting the overton window of a site they lower the quality of discussion and give the exact impression of pissing in a public swimming pool, ironically. I think that a good general rule of thumb is "if you don't like it, don't contribute to it". if someone is not following this rule of thumb it actually begs the question why they aren't following it: are they actually warning people about a bad experience they particularly had, are they providing constructive or meaningful criticism, or do they have the ulterior motive of ruining the discussion or otherwise acting in bad faith? 9 times out of 10, it is the last reason. >>13362 >i will never understand the obsession with lain that soykaf was boring as fuarrrk, only appeals to trannies if you can't understand the relevance of lain than I'm afriad this community (and anonymous imageboards of this sort, as well as hacker culture in general) isn't for you. If you don't get it, you don't get it. >I am a tourist seeking a home find it somewhere else >all people complaining about "racism" are anti white racists or whining niggers and Germans who should get the rope find it somewhere else

>>13363 >>13364 screencapped both posts, very nice summary that explains how this site is and how it differs from 4shart culture. BTW for any lurkers these points also apply to proselyting leftists as well. >>13362 >comes to a site about lain to complain about lain >muh troons >victim complex move along, we don't like your kind here.

>>13366 thanks lain. though i highly recommend you reword it more concisely in your own words / use formatting, i definitely just went on an oldf♥g rant with a bunch of unnecessary gratuity, once i realized what i was being i just leaned into it instead of trying to format it or anything like that
