Hello, I'm a biologist and I'm interested in this imageboard

Where do you think I'll find myself at home around here? I'm also interested in history, sci fi and retro stuff, so I dig the aesthetic.

I browse by lainchan.org/megaq/catalog . I'm pretty sure it shows most boards. There's a thread about re-animating a heart, one on biohacking, and a drugs board. Personally, I find biology very cool, and that the concept of evolution explains pretty much all of our world, so thank you biologists! If you want to meet people off site, the IRC is very active, and there are meetup threads. I'll keep an eye out for your posts!

>>11718 Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out. Biology is pretty great, thought as with anything, it's much more mundane up close. But after some disillusionment I learned to love it again but now for what it really is and not what it appears to be when you read about it in high school. Sorry if I'm a Luddite, but I would appreciate a little helpsheet on the IRC, since I'm new to it. Any topics you're interested in? I could start a thread or just continue here and go into what I know or read up on stuff.

>>11717 That depends on what you are looking for in a home. As a biologist what are your interests and specialisation, if you do computational biology /lambda/ may be interesting to you if you like biohacking , then /diy/ has a relevant thread as previously mentioned. If you like discussing the impact of pharmacology on biology, then /drug/ is your board. If you want to discuss the impact of sleep on biology or the biological aspect of consciousness, then /zzz/ make work for you. Otherwise if you want talk biotech, then /tech/ is your board. If you want to talk about biological security (whether via bioecology or genetics), then feel free to make a post on /sec/ . /hum/ isn't a board for biology, even human biology, but you may find some history posts , as well as in in /lit/ . If you want to make another unrelated biology thread, then make it in /r/ and be sure to elaborate on your opinions, as well as mentioning what you want to discuss.

>>11720 Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. I'll respect the restriction on /his/ and /lit/ with the biology if that's what the administration dictates and it's no skin off my back but I disagree both ideologically and realistically. The current history, especially ancient history is very connected to anthropology which is connected to biology. Plus intersectional studies are usually very productive. For example, the hair of Beethoven was studied for DNA recently and showed that he had a genetic liver disorder and some other things. In literature it's important to remember that there is a lot of biological literature, not all of it strictly academic. Does the selfish gene discussion not belong on /lit/? Otherwise yes, I shal start a biology *general" when I get more free time if that's an acceptable terminology here. I'll provide my background there if anyone wants access to someone with my education.
