Saging is improper

Project 2501 · 2023-03-11 15:45
There are one or two frequent posters on this board who sage their posts with extreme frequency. Not only is it impolite and improper, appearing more to be an attempt to signal a sort of downvote, it's diruptive given that I generally just check the index and track thread activity based on if the order changes. Saging should only be done when your post is well and truly, beyond all doubt, both directly and angentially off topic. Otherwise it's little more than an odd sort of inverted attempt at attention seeking and disruption. I actually view it to be like avatar use.

The sager · 2023-03-11 16:19
There is literally nothing wrong with saging at any time for any reason.
Ivan Horvat · 2023-03-11 16:20
>>67722 i sage for 2 reasons 1. i think topic at top is better so i want to avoid taking visibility from it replying to another thread - this is what sage was originally made for 2. >I actually view it to be like avatar use. kinda, when multiple people are active and you start getting mistaken ive abused it simply to make the notion the guy using sage and other poster aren't same poster
Anamika · 2023-03-11 16:31
>>11597 No. Replying at all is a form of commitment and investment. If you want to be invisible, then just watch. Refusing to bump a thread is sneaky and means you shou;d just stop contributing. You have one foot in one world and one in the other, which is fine until others detect it, and decide to force you to choose. I am telling you to choose. >>11598 This is understandable, but at the same time lainchan is so slow that most people will be scrolling through at least the first page anyway. There's no need for a certain thread to be the first thing they see.
The sager · 2023-03-11 16:52
>>11599 Nah. There is no choice to make. You're just mad that I don't bump your threads.
SHODAN · 2023-03-11 17:00
>>11600 >you're just mad cuz That's ridiculous.

>>11597 >>11600 Is this really your best LARP?
The sager · 2023-03-11 17:34
>>11602 Listen, I'm not the one who decided to make this thread. I'm simply inhabiting the persona that OP created.
sage · 2023-03-11 18:47
I'll sage just for the kicks. If you think saging is equal to downvoting you have some self-esteem issues. People sage for reasons that don't involve your feelings, pal.
Dr. X · 2023-03-11 18:48
>>11604 >I'll sage just for the kicks. Yeah, that's a load of bullshit too. The things you send somewhere also came from somewhere. It's not just random or "for kicks".
the sager · 2023-03-11 20:09
>>11605 You got me, I'm part of a grand conspiracy to not bump OP's threads.
Cypher · 2023-03-11 20:45
>>11606 Imagine thinking this is clever or entertaining. Yawn.
the sager · 2023-03-12 00:15
>>11607 Imagine being mad about other people saging when it is objectively morally correct.

>>11608 It seems I have been hit with the GIMP pepper meme. I have no choice. I yield.
XERXES · 2023-03-12 08:28
>sage me to oblivion, the thread It's sad when there is literally 1 (one) person bumping the thread.

>>11595 sage sage my thread into pieces, this is my last retort I sage whenever something is not directly on topic with the thread, or whenever I feel like it. However, announcing your sages is kind of gay yes I am a hypocrite.

The worst part about this thread is the tripcodes. Now the sager is a single entity composed of a few ascii characters. Unfortunate. But it won't stop me from contributing! Muhahaha!
Nemissa · 2023-04-22 10:33
I don't know what imageboard users have against saging. It's not seen as something negative or impolite on textboards.
Salvia :-) · 2023-05-02 11:48
>>11595 I often sage when I am not sure my contribution is valuable enough to bump the thread. In my head, it's equivalent of suggesting something in low voice but not pushing the topic.
Nameless · 2023-05-25 22:38
There's some people that like to call attention on themselves being different. So they don't sage because it's a bad thread or something they disagree with the OP, but only because they're really want to dislike. Here on my country's imageboards, it's a trend to do this. And it's fuarrrking ridiculous.
Acid Burn · 2023-05-25 23:21
Saging for any reason other than not adding to bump limit is retarded. Sage as a downvote just prompts a response which bumps the thread anyway. Stupid.
sage · 2024-02-06 14:25
saging is perfectly normal behavior harden the ufck up
