How did you find lainchan?

>>4678 i dont really know i was searching for info about some chaners on 8chan and i ended up here
Anonymous · 2015-05-27 05:54
I've been posting about twice every month since 4/20. >>4680 That's the same way I ended up here.
Anonymous · 2015-05-27 05:55
It was from some 8ch thread that had lain as the image and it was advertising lainchan. i think it was made by kalyx and the thread had a lot of angry anons talking soykaf but i followed the link and I remember reading "we might help you fix your navi if you ask nicely" on /tech/ and I was fuarrrking shocked. coming from 8ch /tech/ and 4/g/ where everyone attacks you for the smallest thing I was suprised to see that and decided I'd give it a shot. Then I fell in love with the cyberpunk CSS and the politeness, quality post, and interests of most lainons.
Anonymous · 2015-05-27 06:08
I honestly don't remember. It was probably through /g/. I've been around for around five or six months. A post every two days is pretty standard. >>4682 I can definitely empathize with that. Before Lainchan, I mainly frequented #/g/punk and scavenged around 4chan trying to find like-minded posters. Something about the atmosphere of this site calms people down. Love you, Lains.

>>4682 >>4683 > Politeness > Atmosphere Lainchan's a friendly place, for which I'm very thankful :) So I watched Lain for the first time around…May last year. Found out about mebious.co.uk and .mobi from sheer curiosity surrounding the famous coolant pipe, and then…Was it reddit? Was it mobi? Not sure. But I found this place. Been here for a year (on/off) and I post maybe once a week. Peace

Anonymous · 2015-05-27 15:49
4chan/g/. In a functional programming thread people were talking about how cool /λ/ is. Lainchan was still very new.
Anonymous · 2015-05-27 16:52
Via 8chans cyberpunk board. I amnot a wizzard, most programming threads are too hardcore for my little brain, but i really like it here.

Anonymous · 2015-05-28 01:37
I started watching Lain about ~2 months ago, and I remembered hotwheels tweeting about streaming with the lainchan admins. I searched for you on ED to read up on the site, but finding no article, I decided to just try to lurk, and soak in the atmosphere. It's bretty nice here. I rarely post, as I still don't quite have the hang of being polite, and friendly on image boards. I never did finish Lain. Pls no ban.

I don't really remember- too high on dissociatives but now that I think of it was a chan, 420 or 8chan probably. That was about 5 months ago roughly. Finally got tired of the inner chans so I'll probably stay out here in the cold dark abyss of the outer chans
Anonymous · 2015-06-02 21:25
Since more than a year. I discovered it probably on a post on 4/g/.
Anonymous · 2015-06-02 21:59
Someone mentioned it on 420chan in a thread about what other Chan's people browse, I'vebeen bbrowsing 420chan since 06 and started coming here at the beginning of this year, I hardly ever go to 420chan now. I'm come here every day and post maybe 4-5 times a week. Oh and I watched SEL like 3 years ago.

I heard it in 4chan/g/. When there were a daily /cyb/ thread. I dunno. I dont usually post, im always busy with something, so i just check it 10 min daily before i go to sleep.

Anonymous · 2015-06-13 05:11
I came from 8chan too, saw an ad on /cyber/. Like a lot of smaller image boards the post quality is decent.
Anonymous · 2015-06-13 23:16
I heard about lainchan at wizchan a few months ago. It's a shame this board and the whole page in general is mostly dead. The only place to discuss electronics is 4chan's /diy/, but I'm starting to hate it more and more. [Spoiler]Specially after getting permab&[Spoiler/] I have a lot to offer, but there's nobody here share electronics with. This is my second post, but I'll actively post in /diy/ if things get better, I might open an electronics thread to get things going.

I probably found this place on /g/ like most other people, I've probably been here since around the time I was getting sick of 4chan's community and was trying to find somewhere new to go. So maybe a year or a little more. I visit here every day and read whatever new stuff has been posted. Not the most talkative person around here, though. I only post when I really have something to say. Maybe 1-2 times a week, depends on what discussions are active.

I was on 4ch since REDACTED and really just couldn't deal with the user base anymore. As I wandered the vast and mostly dead space in the ruins of allchan I found this site and just stored it in the back of my brain. Then tumblr finally killed /g/ (among other things) and I had to find a new home. The hatred and trolling of REDACTED finally spilled out to the entire site and I couldn't even find that needle in the haystack anymore so I came here again and started reading through the threads and fell in love with the passion and sensible humor of the users. I was a heavy poster on /g/ and was on it for many hours a day, as I work in IT so I have lots of time to browse but have only recently dedicated myself to lain and have slowed down a lot in content as I acclimate myself to the boards. I have been posting on /c/ and /w/ mostly as a have a lot of content that people are looking for and hoping to draw a few more unknowing lainons who will not soykaf up the boards. I also really enjoy the ability to share PDFs with the post and think its a awesome feature, as well as hope to conintue to teach myself λ and help out with the site itself soon.
Anonymous · 2015-07-01 06:14

I saw this place on tumblr 's /g/ board, but I forgot about it for some reason. /cyb/erpunk didn't interest me at the time... Until I realised I was living in the age of /cyb/erpunk.

When thugboy.com got DDoS'ed for the 1st time HW put up a few links to here, that's how I got here. Haven't been on /cyber/ or any other thugboy.com board except /abdl/ lately, chans are getting boring imo. Shame there are absolutely no good forums left, nearly all of them have fallen to circle-jerking, normalfag infestations, rulefagging or just died out.
Anonymous · 2015-07-01 17:25
I got to this place from tumblr sometime last year. First I migrated to thugboy.com but quickly realized that it was full of nonfat-soykaf drinkers and manchildren. At the time I only lurked here because I'm not comfortable posting somewhere until I'm familiar with its community. I wanted an imageboard more in line with my interests specifically and with a higher post quality. I started posting infrequently earlier this year and I've begun being a bit more active recently. I probably average 2-4 posts a day.

Found it thought a cyberpunk thread on /v/. I love the word-of-mouth spread. It's perfect. And it only took me further down the rabbit hole.
Anonymous · 2015-07-18 16:19
Initially discovered it after watching serial experiments maybe a year or two ago. I picked it up since I was told it was a sufficiently thought-provoking seinen, and one of the best out there to begin with. I have no interest in the slice-of-life chibi cutesy moe soykaf so obviously it didn't disappoint. I didn't give lainchan much thought because to me it seemed like a ded bored, perhaps gone the way of 7chan, as I was accustomed to the lighting posting speed of 4chan. Since that soykafhole had lost my interest long ago I hadn't been frequenting any chans much until after migrating to 8ch in September. Word of lainchan came about there once again, and I've been here ever since. I've come to appreciate slower boards now and by extension slower chans. They are far less heavy ice and actually give you the chance to have real conversations. I pop in here on occasion.
Anonymous · 2015-07-18 17:36

I don't recall the exact date, but I showed up here fairly early on, after a thread about it was made on 4chan/g/. I think one of my first posts broke the /t/ board, right before it was removed. Anyway, I posted quite regularly for a while, but have kinda stopped since. I still occasionally show up and post a bit though, maybe once every few months.
Anonymous · 2015-07-22 17:27
It was some months ago, I looked through some 8chan boards to see if there are german ones that interest me (yes I do that twice a year) and then browsed through some /tech/ threads seeing people having lainchan on their homepage. I went here and fell in love, though I had stopped using imageboards at that time because they all seemed soykaf. I don't post that much but I always post whenever I really have something to say.

Anonymous · 2015-08-04 22:27
>>5908 Seeing pages filled with red ban messages everywhere is unnerving to say the least: >>>/r/10621 is one example of this. Global rules 2-4 are good in principle but are very subjective which gives a lot of power to the mods' discretion. I also disagree with the idea of randomly deleting boards because "it's dead lol" especially when the site's users are still interested in the boards' topics >>5693 And every discussion of lainchan I've seen on other websites has had someone mention their disdain for kalyx, but this is just hearsay of course.

>>5909 I just find it a very refreshing change from other imageboards
Anonymous · 2015-08-05 18:56
>>5909 Listen man I'll be completely honest with you. Most bans for things other than ovbiois spam and inappropriate pictures of children are discussed in the mod irc channel before they're ever enacted. We're not trying to be tyrants, and really want what is best for this website. If you have a problem, feel free to drop into #lainchan on freenode and talk to us about it. Most of us are completely reasonable people most of the time just like anyone else, and we check one another if we're ever off base. There are good people here with legitimate concerns about heavy handed moderation who are reasonable, polite people who use the proper channels to check us. I'm very glad these people exist, because they're just another way to keep us on track. There are also those who try to sow discontent. They come from another imageboard, soykafpost, and then get really pisses off when then are warned by the moderators (derezzed for zero seconds so a message appears before they can post again). They then proceed to spam the site about how "the mods are fag ten year olds on powers trips" and this creates a vicious circle. Don't be a whiney baby. Be a useful member of the board that checks us through appropriate channels when they need to. We're very open to constrictive criticism. Regarding the deleted boards, we did hold a vote before removing any of the boards on the board list. This isn't 8chan, we don't hgave a million boards. Gotta slim to survive, baby.
Anonymous · 2015-08-05 22:38
>>5909 i did not realize you would rather be on an imageboard where the threads are allowed to suck. the mods have proven themselves to be trustworthy plenty of times.
Anonymous · 2015-08-06 00:18
I'm kind of surprised to see this many people who are also refugees from 8chan. Count me among them. I still have hopes for 8chan to at least be able to continue without straight-up dying due to lack of usership and rising server costs, but goddamn that site is turning to soykaf at an alarming rate. It's really sad when comparing it to the first few months, when it felt a bit like old 4chan again, for a brief and beautiful moment. But now, the whole website is becoming increasingly dominated with 4chan-tier soykaf drinking, board drama, website drama (muh SJW boogeyman! muh reddit boogeyman!), and, perhaps worst of all, the inane stormbabby /d/iaperyps militantly soykaf drinking on every board their greasy hands can find in the board list. Even 8/cyber/ hasn't been spared of this, among the many other problems that board has. I'm not saying of course that stormbabbies aren't allowed to exist on a *chan and should be excluded if they're being reasonable and contributing decent content, but they can literally only communicate in memes and seem to be hellbent on turning all of 8chan into their right wing extremist hugbox. And they're winning. Even on /leftypol/, people seem to not understand the concept of saging and ignoring nonfat-soykaf drinkers. And because 8chan has their whole MUH RADICAL LIBERTARIAN FREEDOM thing going on, the amount of moderation on the site as a whole is sorely lacking. Again, not that I support fascist mods banning everyone in sight for violating one of hundreds of rules (or just posting things in disagreement with the mods' personal beliefs, in the case of 4chan by now), but the users can only do so much to combat nonfat-soykaf drinkers and raids. /rant. I like it here.

I found this place yesterday. It's way better here than 8ch. Less moralfags and more genuine interest in things I actually enjoy. So this is going to be my new home. I'll try to never shitpost here. Just will occasionally say something uneducated and hopefully someone would be able to correct me in a correct fashion.
Anonymous · 2015-08-30 20:42
>>6137 > less moralfags than on 8ch What. Literally what. Moralfags. On 8chan. Oh, I get it. It's a joke. ...right?
Anonymous · 2015-08-30 21:56
>>6138 Gamergate is a form of moralglitterboyry just as Chanology was. The whole crux of the Gamergate thing was "there's wrongdoing in game journalism going on". I know, it seems odd when you take into account how many assholes are on 8chan. That'd be the horseshoe effect (the further to the end of the political spectrum you are, the more your mirror the "opposite" site).

The dangers of porn addiction are nothing to scoff at but I still think it was a weak move on his part. That's the running theory anyways. I clicked around a number of other imageboards I vaguely remembered the names of, looking for somewhere else to lurk/post and eventually found lainchan. Loving it so far & I hope it continues to be good. At any rate it'll be better for my mental health than 4chan ever was. This is my first post.

Someone on /mu/ linked the radio. I'm not that much of an info litterate, but I always liked cyberpunk aesthetics and lived with friends afraid of a dystopian future. Also according to the homepage (which I verified shorlty after wasn't bullshit), the posters here are pretty chill. That alone make this site a good one.

I watched Lain for the first time recently (i've never been into anime before and lately i decided to catch up a little with all that soykaf) and i immediately loved it, so i went digging the Wired for interesting related stuff, soundtracks, etc, and i ended up finding link to lainchan in comments section on YT.

Someone mentioned it on /w/ in a lain thread. I think it was about December last year.
Anonymous · 2015-10-04 05:52
I suppose I "originate" from Uboachan, though I found this website quite a while before the link between the two was formed, as a sense of alienation from the former has driven me to seek out a new community in which to reside and participate. I don't exactly remember how I came across lainchan, but I very much like the overall atmosphere here, in terms of both the general demeanor of the posters and the subject matter of the boards. In terms of time, I've visited here for at least the past five or six months. I've chiefly been lurking, though I've made a few odd posts here and there. I'd like, however, to start posting and contributing more frequently.

Some drama I have already forgotten about was happening on 8chan and as usual people were talking about leaving. I wasn't considering leaving 8chan but I was curious about other chans. Checked a few suggestions out and they were soykaf then someone mentioned Lainchan. They described it as "comfy" so I checked out /tech/ and /cyb/ and quickly discover the "cyberpunk" theme which just makes the site look sexy as fuarrrk. I have been browsing /tech/ ever since and although it's slow it's a nice board and I have no complaints about it. I browse /tech/ every single day and love when there are new posts to read. Then yesterday or the day before (I haven't got a lot of sleep lately so I really don't know which) I saw a thread saying that /tech/ might close down and then later there was a thread by a moderator saying that /tech/ had sinned and needed to be more of a hugbox. So I came to this board to see what people were saying about it. And that is my complete Lainchan history because I'm a filthy newfag.

Anonymous · 2015-12-01 13:28
I was getting sick of 4chan, was long sick of people, and by extension was becoming sick of the internet in general. I'd seen that there were a lot of Lain / wired themed sites, and thought it was unusual. I think I just searched "lainchan" for the hell of it, and sure enough... Serial Experiments Lain is one of my all time favorites, I thought there might be people who are easier to get along with if they shared this. I rarely post. I like places with a smaller population, but the slower rate is a bit too slow. I can remember exactly what threads I plan to watch, but don't always actually do so. Mostly listen to the radio.
Anonymous · 2015-12-03 02:37
I was sort of looking for new chans to post on, and I ended up here. I really like this place. My main problem with places like Masterchan and 8chan is I feel as though they're trying to be the next 4chan, which is fine I guess, but Lainchan has it's own Identity that really makes it stand out from the crowd. Whereas other chans take their content from one of the many era's of 4chan, Lainchan just does it's own thing. Which I can really respect.
