Merchandise
nanophyr · 2017-08-14 21:14
Would any of you be interested in lainchan merchandise?
Let's discuss potential merch ideas / designs
Personally I wouldn't mind seeing some of the sticker designs on mugs.
Unfortunately I don't have the artistic talent to make any designs myself but I'd love to see some new designs.
Hitomi · 2017-08-16 21:35
a hoodie that glows in the dark, obviously.
i'm willing to try a design but my time is scarce
Masami Eiri · 2017-08-18 19:49
Safety reflectors come in different forms and shapes, I guess custom prints can be somehow made too.

Project 2501 · 2017-09-10 12:19
Do these stickers still contribute to .org or do they go into Kalxys wallet?
I wanna buy some and support this site.

Posters would be neat too. I've got some bare walls that need decorating.

As per https://lainchan.org/donate.html , the stickermule stickers contribute a percentage donation to this site.
Aristóteles Amadópulus · 2017-09-15 19:37
I'd totally buy some stickers again if there were some new designs. Posters would be pretty neat aswell but I don't think stickermule makes them. Not an artist either so I can't contribute.
Anonymous · 2017-11-02 23:31
something less "i use lainchan" and more secretive would be cool. like, the use of the word soykaf might be a better secretive signal, but then again that might be copyrighted by uhh? whitewolf? dnd? whoever owns shadowrun
Kirito · 2018-01-01 16:02
Went to the sticker site and didn't find anything I liked so I made one of my own. This of interest to Lainions...?

None of the sticker links are working for me, they redirect to a "order custom stickers" page. Stickermule must have changed something.
Appleman1234 · 2018-01-14 02:24

Stickermule closed their market place recently. I am still in the process of finding a replacement market place for stickers.
Morpheus · 2018-01-14 09:04

In the meantime, it'd be really cool if someone uploaded the original high-quality images for each sticker to this thread, so people can be cyberpunk as fuarrrk and DIY their own onto USPS shipping labels.

Yeah +1 for HQ picture uploads, please.
I'd really like to make a poster. fuarrrk, how much $ to donate to release the images?

Have you looked at these guys? Bunch of hipsters but it can't be helped.
Drifter · 2018-07-26 16:32
There were some shirts printed a while back when kalyx was here. I have one with a qr code on the back pointing to the site, with a Lain motif. There was another with an IBM logo theme to it.
Splicer · 2018-07-26 22:09
>>5584
I have both. The IBM logo one (called "business casual" at the time) is MUCH better, but originally wasn't available in the US.
Special Agent Bob · 2018-08-01 15:58
When will the stickers be available again?
H.R. Giger · 2018-11-13 19:04
>>5588
Bump, again...
If the site admins aren't going to do it or even give an update, I will submit some of the old designs and sell them at cost.

See >>>/q/6038.
Thanks for making this thread. I am still working on sourcing a sticker martketplace since Stickermule closed theirs down and I wasn't given enough notice to backup all the old stickers, so if I am able to get the old stickers from this thread, that would be appreciated.
I am still looking for a marketplace that accepts Bitcoin and doesn't require me to mail stickers directly to lainons, apologies that it is taking so long, but there are not main sticker marketplaces that meet both of that criteria.
>>5449
Yes I looked at them but they don't support bitcoin. I think I have found a possible solution, but it means hosting the store on lainchan in order to use a Bitcoin payment gateway to get bitcoin payment support.
The print to order fulfillment service I am looking at using supports stickers, mugs, hoodies, etc and everything that they various merchandise threads request.
However setting up a storefront and integrating 3 APIs (one for regular cc and paypal, one for bitcoin, one for fulfillment) will take some time.
Tequila · 2019-07-14 18:17
Is there any update on this new lainchan store?
Appleman1234 · 2019-07-14 19:52
>>6389
I gave an update during the Annual General Meeting on 20/4/2019.
Update still working on it, progress is slow going because of the time I have available to work on it.
About 8 steps through a twelve step process for the first step. (Making OpenAPI service definition of the primary vendor fulfillment API.)
Also still working on typing up the transcript from the AGM which has more details about the planned nature of the store, but there are only so many hours in the day. (Currently have transcribed 52 minutes of the first session, with another 1.5 hours to transcribe.)
Goal is to have working prototype that people can buy stuff from by Halloween, with the fallback being Christmas. What was made available on 20th of April 2019 was https://lainchan.org/stickers.html, which features some of the stickers that will be available.

A subtle hoodie with lain and the word soykaf somewhere would be based. although selling merch with lain on it maybe might be seen as copyright infringement by funimation (iirc they own the lain IP now)

I'm picturing a "Keep Calm and Don't Pour the Soykaf" hoodie.

H.R. Giger · 2020-10-24 04:56
id buy lainchan merch as long as it was designed well
Cat Mother · 2020-10-24 21:16
wish this one was available again, probably the only sticker i've ever seen that i've liked enough to consider putting on my computer

Interesting that zxing doesn't properly decode that without `enhancement.' Obviously this is a feature of zxing, not lainsticker.
Unnamed · 2020-10-24 22:52

Nice! I think the lain headshot kinda clashes with the aesthetic, though. Maybe the NAVI or Knights icon instead. Or just the text. I think the ``the'' of ``DON'T SPILL the SHIT'' should be capitalized, too: ``KEEP CALM and DON'T SPILL THE SHIT.''
Oldtimers might enjoy an orange one.
Morpheus · 2020-10-24 22:53
Oh, I guess language enhancer doesn't apply to capital ``SHIT.''
Yu-ichi · 2020-10-25 15:15
>>9081
>NAVI
Much better, thanks. It even looks like the original crown.
>'THE'
Looks off. This isn't exactly a title or heading, but the rule there is that words like "the", "and", "of" are not capitalized. And since "and" is not uppercase/capitalized here, it doesn't follow that "the" should be capitalized either. The 'the' did need some repositioning though.
>Oldtimers might enjoy an orange one
Is that some color scheme? I looked at lainchan on the wayback machine and there's nothing orange.
Nanashi No Gombe · 2020-10-25 15:42
>>9087
Oh, and even if the lowercase 'the' wasn't more grammatically logical, it still makes the design look more dynamic compared to the uppercase 'THE'.
Here's a good short guide to capitalizing titles, pretty consistent with capitalization in serious publications and etc. I've seen so far:
https://www.businesswritingblog.com/business_writing/2010/02/words-to-capitalize-in-titles-and-headings.html

Maybe they meant red, since the original "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster is red?

>Maybe they meant red, since the original "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster is red?
Should be a fairly simple edit to get this or any other color combination. Here's a transparent PNG, you can use hue/saturation/lightness edits to color the symbols (instead of paint bucket tools which cause artifacts). For the background just color a layer below.
Fuarrrk Winston Churchill and British WW2 leaders by the way, there's historical consensus that they bombed my country for time periods and in locations far beyond any tactical purpose, other than just plain terror. Maybe we should've made a catchy poster as well, at least today we'd have that to show for it.
