I humbly request that threads such as this one https://lainchan.org/r/res/3007.html become dedicated to political cartoons and memes only, as in, only those images that are meant to be amusing or clever. This means that political cartoons are separated from political discussion and/or statistics. The latter should instead be forced into a strict /lit/ context, meaning that posters are required to point to a single article or book author at the start of a thread on /lit/ and to write a lengthy opening post to justify the thread's creation.
To clarify: images with "statistics" and links to such are NOT meant to be amusing/clever. They do not even constitute political discussion, which the OP of the thread above requested. Political discussion is not aided by these statistics images, at all. Instead, posters are implicitly encouraged to stop discussing political ideology altogether and to simply post as many statistics jpegs as possible, inevitably resulting in a "rule of the mob" style of political discourse where the most persistent spammer wins.
There is even a post in the thread above where someone is not posting cartoons or discussing anything but is literally just spamming links. Pic related.
If anyone is serious about a political discussion then they should:
-relocate to /lit/ and discuss specific articles or books by specific authors, starting any thread with a lengthy and well-crafted post.
Other political threads should:
-be limited to political cartoons and memes without statistics. To enforce this, such threads could logically be moved to /vis/.
Anything in between is an invitation to posters to try and spam their way to victory, and to eventually invite spammers from other sites to join their ranks. Please take these points into consideration.
