So, I thought July 12th was supposed to be net neutrality protest day. However, hardly nobody protested for net neutrality. Not even lainchan had a banner for net neutrality. How can we fight for net neutrality when nobody else will??? Even goddamn reddit had something net neutrality.

A banner here is just preaching to the choir. If you want to fight for it you'll have to go to places like reddit and so on where everyone isn't already on board. Also, just convincing random people it's important isn't enough, you have to get them to do something. Especially if you're American, write to your representatives and let them know what you think about it.

lainchan should be smart enough to be against net neutrality

Having a belief system isn't about intelligence or being smart. Sharing beliefs in a belief system isn't either.

We had 177 banners for net neutrality. Didn't you notice ?
We don't celebrate or fight for net neutrality on one special day of the year.
People's belief systems about what the internet as it is now and what the conceptual Wired from Lain should be are the basis for life styles and actions lived each day of your life.
Ok, ok, but why didn't you have a specific banner that had a net neutrality message on it ?
We didn't have such a banner because no Lainon made such a banner or uploaded it to the banners thread. If they had, then we would have such a banner the same as any other banner we have.
But wait a minute, Lainchan has had celebrations before, I remember Balloons and the stuff for the Emperor's birthday, etc, etc.
Holidays are not the same as advocacy days.
Lainchan currently doesn't have custom event themes or extensions for advocacy days of any cause or belief system.
Lainchan is tolerant of a variety and spectrum of causes and belief systems.
That said, open source and an open internet or a more open internet are some of the common shared belief systems among lainons and there are numerous others.
I still don't have a complete list of such causes, but if someone submits a pull request / patch with custom event themes for a specific shared cause then I would be happy to merge the pull request, and consider deploying it on the site if there is sufficient demand.

Protests are only good at raising awareness and being the cause of other actions unless they are violent. Violent protests lead to injuries and deaths on both sides, and whilst important in some circumstances , generally don't work out well for the protesters due to the inequality of weaponry or force.
Most rioting mobs of protesters are not practicing trained Guerrilla warfare.
Similarly protesting about net neutrality only does so much, other targeted actions need to be taken to actual fight or thwart the loss of net neutrality, and most of those actions involve convincing others in positions of power or jurisdiction to share and understand and be willing to represent your belief system in their interactions with others.
It is these catalyst events and interactions of exerting fiscal and legislative pressure on the companies , and individuals that are a more impacting fight, than just several thousand protesters with signs and chants and banners.
This isn't saying the protesting isn't important, it is very important, but it alone isn't enough to evoke change.
Just like wishing for something or saying you are going to do something, doesn't equate to getting that something or doing that something.
Protesting doesn't make the change want happen occur. It is compromise, negotiation, extortion, leverage and various other actions that invoke that sort of change.

You are entirely correct.

I didn't really do anything yesterday, too busy with schoolwork.
I did express my view in a email from the eff 3-4 months when the Verizon wage slave Indian pai got rid of it.

Net Neutrality is pretty mainstream, everyone knows about it and supports it
That said, I myself think the solution to “ISPs aren't providing service acceptable to me” is to deregulate so we can actually get some competition and I can just buy my Wired from someone who actually WANTS to sell me unthrottled access to European VPNs and Netflix
