Banning Tor exit nodes?

Emmanuel · 2017-06-29 16:15
The mods have been banning Tor exit nodes. Case in point, right when I went to comment this in the #childlove thread originally, I got hit with the ban page for whoever posted: "cum on, i know at least one of u mods likes this soykaf, just admit it look at that pretty red cunt mmmmmmmm" But that thread has reached its maximum reply limit, so I'm making a new thread about this issue.

>>4275 Yes some TOR exit nodes get derezzed for breaking the rules, same as an other source address, the main difference being that the bans are temporary (several weeks maximum) instead of forever. In terms of making this workflow more seamless (e.g. displaying a message to a staff member when issuing a ban of a TOR exit node, reminding them that the duration shouldn't be permanent, this is a change that is on the todo list but hasn't been done yet.

Normally we avoid banning Tor exit nodes but as Appleman said, currently there's no indication whether an IP is a Tor node or not (whoever is considering the ban has to use something like https://www.dan.me.uk/torcheck). Sometimes people forget. If a Tor exit node is derezzed, just appeal it.
