radio is down. its been down 3 days.
how do we monitor lainchan infrastructure?
maps · 2017-04-15 00:31
There is working being done on bringing back a backup, spearheaded by iLikeBiscuits.
IRC is a good starting ground. Appleman1234 has also begun updating the news page. A few users on IRC, including me, have requested more transparency on that front from the admin team - i.e.,sharing some details of what actions the admin teams have taken, what they are working on/have been directed to do, and what they're working on.

Download is at 93%, moving around 20 gigs is a pain in the dick when you have soykaf internet.
Should be back up soon(tm)

The torrent is avalible on Laintracker.org, our private tracker.

Bugger, I have never gotten an account there.
Ah well.
Jet Black · 2017-04-15 15:04
I can't initialize the torrent at all. qbit tells me the tracker isn't working.

any chance for an m3u file, either mp3 or ogg? browser eats up more RAM than VLC.

Should probably just be able to past the link into a text file and name it namegoeshere.m3u
Depending on how your music player works, you can also just open the stream. If you use mpd just do
mpc add <URL>
and it will get added to the end of the playlist. No idea how other players work, but I assume many of them have similar functionality.

That worked, thanks for the tip. Happy to have the radio back, works wonders for my day-to-day.
iLikeBiscuits · 2017-04-22 08:27
And it's down again, I deleted it.

And up, round 2.
MPD had crashed, nothing in the logs of course.
I left the verbose output open in another shell, so I should be able to pinpoint the problem if it happens again.
I'm running out of rare Tenshi to post

I don't know where the confusion came from that this stream, as a whole, was somehow affiliated with either website. Both websites link(ed) to it in the radio tab. It just so happens that the current mix was put together by a member of the .jp community, who also provided a .jp bumper.
You'll note that this radio (mark2) is something ps3udonym and I spun up drunk as fuarrrk at 3 in the morning after I played russian roulette on the old server one too many times.
There was also never any sort of agreement or conversation with Appleman about this website linking to the stream, I simply got a PM informing me that it was now in the top bar.
In short, I'll do whatever the fuarrrk I want, and if you have a problem with it, feel free to host your own radio, it isn't hard. Otherwise, calm down and listen to the tunes.

Did you plug .org? No.
Did you plug .jp? Yes.
No one's really confused. It's clear which website you support more. Now get out, loser. We should take your /radio/ out of our nav bar again.

The radio in the top bar is no longer pointing to the previous mirror, it is hosting Lainchan Radio without any advertisements, the original music restored from backup and run on another server (because people were complaining about single points of failure).
As a side note, this is what I thought the mirror ILikeBiscuits would be providing based on the information at
https://lainchan.jp/radio.php
The official Lainchan.jp commercial-free internet radio is managed by ps3udonym and iLikeBiscuits. It may be streamed in your local media player via the M3U playlist or in your browser via the player available below. Thanks for listening, Lain!
The final structure and format of the radio station are still to be determined. New details will be posted here as soon as they are available.
However the information posted there was evidently incorrect (if there was advertising, then it is hardly commercial free), sorry for any confusion generated.
Tequila · 2017-04-24 15:35
>>2046
Exactly.
>It's commercial free radio!
>Except for you, .org. We'll plug in from where you listen to :)
Detestable. And thanks for securing the radio we currently have up there, Apple.

The reason why people are mad at you is because you demand so much of others while pretending to have absolutely no responsibility.
iLikeBiscuits · 2017-04-24 19:34
>>2043
>Did you plug .org? No.
Yes, all the original bumpers are still in there.
>>2046
>it is hosting Lainchan Radio without any advertisements,
If we're counting bumpers as advertisements now, that is patently false.
>As a side note, this is what I thought the mirror ILikeBiscuits would be providing based on the information at
That was written last night (sub 12 hours ago), you didn't think soykaf.
sorry for any confusion generated. Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!
