Do any Lains have MP3 players? MP3 collections? Do you label them neatly, or just throw them in there? Doesn't matter, just post 'em!

Used to just run a youtube-dl python script to download songs from youtube that I liked, and just kept them all in a single folder. Now I found beets which is a pretty cool automatic organizer. It did take a lot of tinkering to customize, but I liked it. Now I usually just get albums from torrents. Anyone know any good public trackers for music?

Just use soulseek

Not a mp3-player, but hi-fi player. mp3 codec does suck. AAC a best, can't say difference between flac and aac.
Didn't bother much with labeling, just artist/album filetree.
Music barely kicks me anymore. It's a new void.
The player is really old already...

I keep a meticulously tagged library of mp3 music. Wish I could've kept them as flac files, but it just takes up too much storage. I've considered opus and whatever but so much obscure music you can only find as mp3, I ended up not caring. Not like I have the equipment to hear a difference.
$ find shvol/music/ -type f | wc -l
22074 As for mp3 players, I have two in fact. Not sure when I bought it, but I got a fiio m3 at some point because of how cheap, long-lasting and convenient it is. Really the only thing it doesn't have is a good UX. Got a fiio m3 pro (?) not too long ago and I like it.

What earphones do you use?
I'm in love with my KZ ZST Pro (armature dual driver or whatever, no noise cancellation). Removable wire is a killer feature.

I kept using one until like 2018 but then my phone turned out to be a competent, comfy replacement with more space so I just stopped.

I was going to say, I'm not rich enough to buy very good ones, so I use an old pair of akg y20, but I noticed that your pair is not even that expensive. Haven't really been considering different ones because I'm already satisfied, but maybe it would be a good idea to get some new ones...
Thanks for telling me lain!
Lately I've been doing much more home listening anyways, for reasons you can probably imagine. The fiio still sounds better than any other device and I can listen very comfily in bed. Perhaps you can relate?

Quite opposite, I'm used to listen to music while walking, but The Reasons changed my routine to the worse

I only have a sandisk MP3 player and some v-moda headphones (are these supposed to be any good? I didn't buy them). I used to use a 2003 ipod, but it broke a few years back. Obviously, I'm an ignoramus when it comes to this audiophilia, but I'm curious about these fiios that keep coming up. What's a decent model? What's the price range?

Not the lain you were replying to, but I tried to use soulseek a while back but got no results upon searching. Does this mean it's blocked by my ISP? How can I get around this?

I've been happily using a fiio for quite a while, but I doubt I would buy a touchscreen player (which is only option now).
Since, it's all about amplifiers, I would look at a wireless headset or a bluetooth amplifier, or a portable DAC (and a powerbank to keep my phone alive). 100-150$ seems to be enough to get hi-res or even hi-fi fiio sound.
At quick glance, I like https://www.fiio.com/btr3k

Hey Lains, I was gifted a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2s for Christmas. I have a gift receipt, are these worth keeping? Should I exchange them for something else?

Separate headphone amps are audiofool crap made to sell to morons and people too rich to think for a moment before hitting buy
Unless the standard output on your phone/player or whatever is audibly noisy you gain nothing except extra volume and a little half chub from wasting money on moonshine, being a credulous consumer isn't very cyberpunk lain
