A.k.a. the song heard in the background of the Onyxia Wipe Animation. Random blogpost, but until just now, I'd mostly thought of the lyrics as irrelevant and cheesy (they might still be to the person who wrote them). But I recently (torturously) fell in love for the second time ever, which allowed me to really grow and unblock my emotions/intuition/openness to symbolism. So listening to it now, an idea came to me to interpret it as about Jungian archetypes - the female voice (the anima) beckoning you to believe in her, thus following her to reach something that's actually close to "divine" - individuation/the Self. This wasn't something particularly illuminating or impactful, just that I have a relevant personal interpretation of a cheesy song I like, to accompany me while I figure my soykaf out. And if some of this Jungian soykaf sounds kind of far-out, I kind of felt that way too until I started recognizing certain concepts and processes he described as something within me, but only after going through an emotional trial by fire under unprecedented circumstances with an introspective mindset. P.S. the Milkdrop preset is one of my edits of "martin - city lights v2 c". It's so dope.

>>9321 Sure, check out Буерак if you haven't. It's not exactly punk, but it's in the same vein as Молчат Дома, with less of a lo-fi sound. Nice, moody tunes, good stuff. I remember posting in a thread about 80s music from different countries some time ago it's most likely still up on the music board, so it might have something of interest to you.
Leto Atreides I · 2022-01-12 09:38
>>9321 I'm not really sure what your definition of "punk" is however i recommend giving a listen to some of these bands: red mold - "krasnaya plesen" "красная плесень" — started in '89 and is known for parodies and profanity king and jester "korol i shut" "король и шут" — started in '88, horror punk based on folk stories "dk" - "дк" started in '80 very popular underground band, considered one of the first experimental rock bands for the time "automatic satisfiers" "avtomaticheskie udovletvoriteli" "aвтоматические удовлетворители" started in '79 considered first punk in ussr. if u liked kino you will probably also like this, also since viktor tsoi was one of the main/founding members.

Listening to some outtakes from the Mouth Albums by Neil Cicierega (aka Lemon Demon) Anyone has some tips for organizing your music files? I personnally do: artist/band > year_album > track-number_name And add a cover.jpg and an "extras" folder for whatever extras comes with the album
Unknown · 2023-05-03 05:29
>>11071 Basically the same thing. Artist/Band > Album > Individual tracks for that album I want to try to organize artist and bands by genres but i feel i'll end up splitting some artists discography if one delves in another genre. (Think metadata is better for this. i'll get around them at some point)

On the topic of this thread, i've just remembered a great radio station who's url i cannot recall, but i would really like to listen to again it had access to multiple diffrente genres, from surf rock, to 80s and 90s stuff and more, it was hosted purely through donations and little merch they would sell, it had i think both playlists of diffrent genres and also a live radio(?) and sadly that is practically all i can recall from what i remember about it I remember it was [something]FM, and for the life of me i cant remember if its something i found on lainchan or somewhere else

i found myself listening to music i that I remember to have found on 4/mu/ back when i first started visiting it. back when sharethreads could occupy me for hours on end, as I forced myself to listen to new and sometimes strange albums start to finish. I'm having a depressive episode and as much as I feel like I'm over post-rock, seeing it as just a fad that came, existed and went without much impact on my life at least, there's something beautifully hopeful about this album that gives me much needed reassurance that things will be okay in the end. it's a strange feeling listening to this after 10-odd years , especially now that my everyday listening consists of a 50/50 mixture of techno and 19th century classical music, but i very much enjoy it. perhaps it was just what i needed now.
Ender · 2025-04-29 08:08

I'm trying really hard to figure out why people like this album. I'm not ragebaiting saying it's terrible, it's not. It's just not very interesting. I know other people do and I wish I knew why. I've listened to it at least twenty times trying to figure it out but I can't. Was it a novel sound in it's time? Cool new music technology? Is it just overhyped because every time you step outside you see someone with the cover on their shirt? I liked the track 'Breathe' at least?
Ender · 2025-05-30 08:10
>>13856 because it's used as social signaling that you listen to cool music(^tm). idk. people might actually like it, in which case I stand corrected, but the mainstream public tends to like things for the sake of appearing a certain way. Personally, I don't even remember what the album sounds like because it was that unremarkable to me. Maybe I'm just that uncool.
Cat Mother · 2025-05-30 08:32

I tried giving The Dark Side of the Moon a try and really didnt care for it much. Before you try and call me uncultured I like bands like Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Camel, Allan Holdsworth, The Moody Blues, Magma, Yes, Hatfield & The North... and chill to their albums all the time so people often say I must like dark side of the moon. They are always surprised to learn I cant even get through the through the whole thing, not because its bad but because I find it underwhelming. I felt the same way towards Tommy for the longest time to. Cant stop wondering what Tommy's pov is. Could imagine he just wants to play pin ball and everyone keeps trying to get his attention when he has a pin ball game to play! Anyways next time someone cant shut up about dark side throw on some Bitch's Brew on to blow there minds off the moon and to a different universe!

I'm not really that deep into Techno, especially Japanese Techno (not that I'm against it, it's just that at this time of my life, I have other interests), but I'm listening to a "DEEP DIVE: online" DJ set by a certain "Mari Sakurai". She's presumably pretty well known, due to how she's introduced in the YouTube video's description. I've never heard of her, but again, I'm not that deep into techno, nor into Japanese electronic music. Nonetheless, I'd say so far, 7 minutes into a 40-minute mix, it's okay.
