Surprised there's no thread talking about music-making gear on this board.
So, lainanons what synths do you own? Do you plan to buy any? Do you work strictly DAW-less?
Feel free to post gear pics, recommendations or questions about things. I myself am not wizard, just looking for nice discussion - i've been looking for the right synth for a while - one that'd not be a kids toy (like korg volca series) that i could buy but so far all things i've found are un-affordable either because of kvlt success or just modern internet - and with current global situation i can't go much for bargain hunting (not like i'd have any luck because i live in a borderline 3rd world country).
Pic rel is one of the few things i'm glad i got, MPC1000 with JJOS2XL installed. They seem to get more expensive recently but its a killer sequencer and a sampler, if you can find one cheap locally (even badly spray-painted by some soykafty DJ) it's worth getting.

I am also surprised there is not a thread for this on this board; it seems very fitting. I would love to post because I find analog synths really interesting but I have never been able to afford any gear so I dont know much.
That being said, I found this really awesome video recently I think you would like. It is about a guy rigging his prosthetic arm to control his synth:

I found that there is a more active synth thread in /Δ/ at Δ/res/2910
I think it would still be fun to post synth stuff here but I figured I would still link the other thread.

I'm interested in the abstract, I used to play guitar but my wrist can't handle playing for more than like 10 min, so I'd like to get back into music without the physical demands.

well obviously any music will requier physical demands but there's obviously less of them depending on what you wanna do, i think if you want that you could try to get some sequencer or a synthesizer with a good sequencer, getting a standalone sequencer though might be useful on its own because a good one, once you learn it you can use it with any good synthesizer. I'd have a recommendation usually but i'd have to check back on good sequencers, MPC1000 in the OP is a good one but you can find something newer (probably a rack one then) that's more flexible with newer tech i think.

Ended up buying a korg minilogue at the start of quarantine and marvel at all it can do. I've traditionally been a wind musician so the learning curve has been steep to say the least. I've been shopping around for a DAW but honestly have been too depressed to make much music with it.

Minilogue is a great choice, hope its fun lain!
If you're looking for a good DAW, i'd personally recommend either Ableton Live or Bitwig, they should be good for sequencing minilogue noises
If you'd wanna try ableton don't make the mistake *i* made and instead of aimlessly mess with it read the official manual, at least the chapter 4 is a great introduction (the entire manual is lengthy but just chapter 4 will teach you 50% of everything you will ever need and all basic concepts).
Bitwig is like ableton but better UI, doesn't have the Live for MAX stuff which might be a bother for quite a few of people but it has its own modular engine.
If those aren't for ya then i guess another one i use often is Renoise, its a DAW-Like tracker but its very very good, its used by a ton of great musicians and famously used by Venetian Snares and a lot of IDM and dnb people. What wind instrument do you play by the way?

Anyway, i've just ordered a Nord Rack Lead 2, it should be here soon and i'm sure it'll be a fun addition to my small music set.

If any lains want to try how it sounds there's a free VST imitating it:
