Is there (somewhere) a guide for Linux music production? Preferably one which clearly defines the purpose of pulse audio, alsa, jackd, kernel compilation (how does it relate to audio), latency...
I hope I have been clear enough :/
Thank you!

Several guides include
Intro to Music Making with GNU/Linux
From Socal Linux Expo 2016
By Aaron Wolf

Please find attached
Ubuntu Studio Audio Handbook by Peter Reppert, contains information that you can use on other distributions.
How to create music with GNU/Linux by Emmanuel Saracco, which is a bit dated ,but contains most of the information you asked for
And Music and Technology: Recording Techniques and Audio Production Lecture by Christopher Ariza from MIT OCW, which isn't Linux specific but can be followed on Linux to learn how to produce music.
Additional resources include those listed at http://linux-audio.com/ and https://github.com/nodiscc/awesome-linuxaudio and https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/introduction

I'd also take a look at LMMS, you can apt-get it in atleast Linux Mint
