Lainchan approved postpunk?

Greetings, I'm trying to make a post-punk radio show for my college radio station and was interested if y'all have any recs for me Looking for stuff that's more recent - not just the obvious stuff like joy division and new order Some pieces for inspiration: The Soft Moon - Try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed79L3wQu38 Merchandise - Right Back to The Start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkOAEEOdYvA Total Control - Flesh War https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogIJBst9JKA Have A Nice Life - Defenestration Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4RBHCsLLI8

I'll pimp Siouxie and the Banshees, Public Image Limited, Throbbing Gristle, The Birthday Party, The Cure, Hunters And Collectors, and Sonic Youth.

Preoccupations are one of my favourites. Really angular style and lots of synths and clever use of samples. >Preoccupations - Bunker Buster https://youtu.be/ZOLIHJKCu8M Fairly new band, this album got a lot of hype around release and with good reason. >The Homesick - Half Aryan https://youtu.be/_0SlgbfJiFw Super aggressive, super noisy. Borderline black metal at times. >His Electro Blue Voice - Crystal Mind https://youtu.be/smOHNrPsx40

>>3259 exactly the kind of stuff i was looking for, many thanks

>The Moth & The Flame - Young & Unafraid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXQ8K-lNyks >Caroline's Spine - Sullivan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86UiV3ggipM >Radiohead - Man Of War https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXP1KdZX4io >the flaming lips yoshimi battles the pink robots part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzlMeTxVdH8 >K.Flay - High Enough (Lyric Video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkFVMDlcJF8 >Highly Suspect - Lydia [Official Video] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev-bR9ii7Gs not sure how many of these qualify, your music sounds more like alt-rock to me

>>3261 perhaps a little heavy? >Cire - Edge of Consciousness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsar3vnN_II more like this? >Apache Sun - Club Noir [Official Music Video] https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=EdRcoQxYWmI >Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies) (Official Video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQvZ4N1RfS8

Here's a cult classic from Ukraine: https://invidio.us/watch?v=kw8ukH2Py8E Kazma Kazma (Dig Dig) - Plyaski trubadurov (Troubadour's Dances) Post-punk meets Stravinsky-esque expressionism inspired by medieval music And here's an album of a bunch of (mostly) one-off groups from Japan making gritty, avant-garde stuff: Pafe Record - Vision of the Emortion https://invidio.us/watch?v=qP5ROskCmkg

>>3254 thanks

Good thread, lainon. Here is a mix of old and new for you. >Кино (kino) - Группа крови (gruppa krovi) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtxjm7ciwmc >Буерак (buerak) - Танцы по расчету (tantsy po raschetu) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZQakJgaZz0 >The Chameleons - Second Skin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxkBC_ZOw8s >Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbSt1WbO0wU >Actors - Bury Me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqVjkkjD1g0 >Self Defense Family - Have You Considered Punk Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR0MrMaodNo >The The - Uncertain Smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bErFXjUGvQ

For somewhat recent recs I quite like Ought and The National's latest releases, both of which are quite reserved. Protomartyr sounds like a Nick Cave ripoff and was well received although personally I'm not a big fan Algiers does some cool genre blending and are worth checking out if you haven't already The Vaccines and Interpol have some dumb and fun material a la The Killers HMLTD are a band to keep an eye on, their Talking Heads-esque diva style sound could develop into something really cool with more polish

anyone into mission of burma? really interesting band. could maybe have been just a really weird punk band if it wasnt for the tape manipulation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qex_GC_XovU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUHVnDRYDQo how about pere ubu? i know they kinda predated most of punk, but they were also WAY too weird to call a punk band even in the 70s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9SD416mXx4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bllc3PaOj8 also, i always considered middle classes second album to be post-punk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mUQpMX81_E of course, all of these might be just regular punk bands, idk to be honest sue me

>>3251 Could def look into the euro scene. I would dare to say most countries touched by the USSR have a good post punk scene.
