Do you guys have any opinions on barbershop quartet/chorus singing?
>What is Barbershop music?
Barbershop music is acapella music, (usually all male, but mixed is becoming more common) in which there are four parts (high to low: Tenor, Lead, Baritone Bass), usually consisting of tight/close harmonies.
>What do those parts mean?
Tenor take the top of the song.
Lead (AKA Tenor 2) gets the melody. (usually)
Baritone gets the same range of a lead, but fills in with 3rd and 5th, rather than singing the melody.
Bass gets the low range.
>Isn't this from the 1850s lmao
It is old, but still practiced. There is a barbershop harmony society (BHS), with a yearly International competition.
