I'm currently hooked on di.fm and soma.fm for defcon radio.
I got hooked on defcon radio from the chill room.

Love lainchanradio mostly but sometimes i get bored and listen to hb1.com that has ambient, house and psytrance.
somafm.com also has tons of channels of free music, i prefer "the trip" that plays trance.

What I have bookmarked. Some online stations that are well known. Some pirate stations that went legit (like Rinse) and pirate stations that went to the net because getting raided by the cops and OFCOM is expensive (like Kool London).
Mostly drum and bass, UK garage and UK dubstep.

Anybody knows internet-only talk stations, or ones where DJ's interact with listeners through IRC and voice calls?
I find it interesting that most stations you guys listed are from UK. Any particular reason for that?

I'm >>2672 and live in the UK. No other reason.
Back in the early 2000s I used to listen to a fantastic atmospheric dnb radio station, atmospheric-dnb.de, the earliest mention of which I can find back in 2003, and the way back machines first backup is from April of that year.

Seems to have died by October 2012.
Oof. Where does the time go?

the BBC does podcasts/daily talk shows, IIRC different branches for different countries too, there are a few german/french stations that do too (some in English and some not).
the stations in >>2673 are german but the DJs do respond to posts people make in their comments box on their page (mostly german)
NPR has looped broadcasts (though they have become selectively more liberal as of late) IIRC BBC world report/radio news is now digital and they interview people on every topic under the sun.
the reason you will find a lot of techno from the UK is that much of the underground techno scene started there. most big name DJs who made world charts in trance music got started in either UK/german/some more avant garde (and some gay) clubs in the united states, which is why there is an abundance of UK culture in the music

I was asking about pirate small collective and personal internet stations, not corporate-state brainwashing facilities, pal. If I'd wanted big-audience podcasts, I already know where to look.
Most private stations I've encountered are too small and stream weebsoykaf on loop, take lainchan radio for example. Not good, I want to interact with DJ like they do it on public FM, call a studio and say hello to my mom, request a song for her, then discuss serious topics.

some of the stations on tunein might be on the more piratey side, tunein.com seems like it has tried to market itself as a steaming platform to compete with other streaming services, but as a search tool, it may be what you are looking for. it looks like most of the open broadcast pirate radios these days (at least in the USA) are based around minority ethnic groups

>BMIR – 94.5 FM (aka Burning Man Information Radio) is the official pirate radio station of Burning Man.[1] Broadcasting and streaming over the internet (both from Burning Man and year round) at http://www.bmir.org[2] – BMIR broadcasts a mix of music, news, burn information, weather reports, interviews with participants and artists, and theme camp and event promos. This station has evaded the FCC for years under Part 15 however broadcasting power by far exceeds said transmission levels.[3] Much of the 2012-2016 BLM special recreation permit authorizing the for-profit Burning Man Art Festival in the Nevada Black Rock City desert depends on the pirate radio station however, the BLM is not in their jurisdiction to license radio stations. Many Burning Man regional events operate similar pirate radio stations.
>FRO 98.5 Free Radio Olympia They have been on the air since March 2001 in Olympia, Washington. The broadcast is also streamed through the Internet.
>Pulse Radio Detroit Operated a mobile FM broadcast system out of Detroit/Dearborn, MI in 1996-2002 covering underground house parties and Underground dance music parties in Detroit on 90.7FM. PRD broadcast some of the parties from the basement of the 2030 building and early Detroit Techno Artists who have since become international performers.
i used to listen to pulse detroit, but idk about dj interaction
>KRNI Radio Normandy International 105.3 MHz, Guerilla Pirate Station from Japan now moved and broadcasting in Mohave County Arizona and also known to be in Orange County, California as well though limited reception there due to full FM Band.

Zoomers trying into pirate radio, lol.
Pro tip: it's not how it should be done on the internet, there's such thing called I-C-E-C-A-S-T. No corporate backends are required. And with proper OPSec, copyright trolls will never find you. I want more of such stations, not some underage normalhomosexuals doing their EDM dudestreams on YouTube(tm).

If you've an interest in UK Dubstep, Joe Nice is the head honcho that brought dubstep to the US.
No brostep soykaf either. Proper hood up, eyes down sound.

And how would you describe the genre/subgenre of defcon? I'm trying to figure out what the differences are, but thus far it feels like cataloging the shades of red...it's all just red to me.
