Any James Ferraro fans here? I think his music would be relevant to the interests of this board. His music feels like something that could only exist in the sensory overload era that we live in, and I've heard nothing else like it. For those who aren't familiar, this quote about his album Far Side Virtual sums it up pretty well: "I was drinking a V-SMOOTHIE, in West Hollywood, at this place called Earth Bar. The ambience was like cold, moist air-conditioned Eco-space, digital ringtones tweeting off, smoothie blenders, laptops. And then a blue-haired man walked up to the counter in his five-finger shoes, texting on his Blackberry. The space felt so online. I was in a diverse online rain forest of $60 eco-smoothies and flat screen TV menus. I just wanted to make music that sounded like this, something these people could blast on their iPods." Far Side Virtual: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd-uSm8ittU The dude has released over 50 albums with an incredible variety in genre. his earlier albums consist of extremely lo-fi new-age sounds as well as harsher material. Most of his work conveys an extremely commercialized hypnotic vibe, evoking the "dimension you fall into when you drop off to sleep at 11 o’clock with the TV left on." Since the release of his album Far Side Virtual, his musical style has shifted to a more hi-fi contemporary style ranging from utopic neo-classical to bleak RnB and hip-hop. This something awful thread is a more thorough introduction to his work: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3535344&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 so what do y'all think?

Heckin yeah, James Ferraro is my soykaf. I would recommend that lains that don't like him to listen to more than one of his albums, There are a few albums of his I don't like, but his discography is so extensive, ranging from Noise, to corporate midi-pop to classical, to ringtones. You'll probably find something you like. My favorite albums are Condo Pets and Last American Hero. Never have I heard the something that reminded me so much of driving a truck down a desert highway, as much as L.A.H.
