Cyberia label
Debbie Charteris · 2018-04-16 10:03
I run a label called called Cyberia (https://lainlabel.bandcamp.com/ https://www.discogs.com/label/1329620-Cyberia-3)
and I'm looking for tracks for the second release, a compilation of work by lainons.
I'm looking for ambient/abstract kinda tracks but I am open to other stuff as well (like noise).
I'm planning to release it sometime around the end of the month. I'm hoping some lainons here can submit some tracks!
Send your tracks here odin@firemail.cc
MrDetonia · 2018-04-16 10:06
Will be submitting some tracks for sure. Also okay do to a final master on the tracks if people want/are okay with that.
https://za.cherd.me/music/LAIN002/sub%20comb.mp3 for now - it's MP3 because it was a live recording, but I'll upload some WAVs from decent patches soonish.
Jens Hansen · 2018-04-16 16:22
Cool, my music is pretty much ambient and "abstract"... I'll send you some tracks this week.
Turner · 2018-04-25 01:48
Any particular theme you had for the release in terms of concept?
藤原純一 · 2018-04-27 13:07
>>1831
Not really, I'm just looking for ambient/abstract tracks, but I'm open to other genres like I said in the OP. If you are unsure if your tracks will fit still send them. Worst that can happen is you get a gentle "no".
The compilation will be titled "Wired Sound For Wired People".
Bob Arctor · 2018-05-07 09:53
Still looking for tracks, gonna be released in a couple of weeks, so send them in while you still got time lads! So far there are about 15 tracks, but more the merrier.
Roger Pollack · 2018-05-07 13:57
I love how all the money from buying those albums goes to you but everyone else does the dirty work for you
Yet Another Lainon · 2018-05-07 22:13

>all the money
I think you misunderstand both how profitable this is, and the reason we're making tracks for this...
Cereal Killer · 2018-05-07 22:35
>>1858
I think you misunderstand the point of my post, or that there are other services who are willing to put up your "mixtapes" without you profiting ANYTHING from that
Meddler · 2018-05-07 23:28
it would be nice to find your label in soundcloud because of the app in smartphones too. I don't use bandcamp that much through my phone but I am surely interested in seeing the music you share
John Doe · 2018-05-08 05:46
>>1859
So what if there are? I can only speak for myself, but I'm not making music with money in mind, and if anyone is I think they're doing it for the wrong reason. You seem hung up over the fact that the guy hosting this might make (literally) a few pennies from other people's work, who are willing to provide it for the fun/experience.
Dozer · 2018-05-08 08:53
>>1857
Any money made would have gone towards physical copies, like https://www.discogs.com/REBUS-11-Zac-Boardman-Layer001/release/10474674.
But whatever, I've made everything a free download *only*, to appease people like you.

bandcamp has a very good app too!

Make it a 'pay what you want' and enable $0 payments (making it free). That way people can still buy it if they want.
Mentat · 2018-05-09 08:53
>>1865
That is what I did originally, that is what the guy was complaining about.
The Fin · 2018-05-09 11:10
>>1866
You shouldn't listen to one asperger. How are you going to finance potential physical copies if there isn't even an option to pay what you want?
Drifter · 2018-05-09 14:39
>>1857
>all the money from buying those albums
Yeah, that would be about three fiddy. Just in case anyone is taking this guy seriously, there are situations where you probably shouldn't contribute your work for free. Like, when the other person is making actual profit from your work and has nothing of value to offer in turn. We are most likely talking about 2-digit numbers at most in this situation (phew, OP's gonna get rich) and even then paying would have been optional so it'd be more like a donation towards a potential physical copy of the release.
Also, this >>1867

Bumpan cause I'm still looking for tracks! You don't have long though, once the cover art is ready I am going to be releasing this!

As an aside, is cyberia interested in IDM/demoscene type music?
I make tracker music with a drill n' bass kind of feel.
Koichiro · 2018-06-05 15:59
>>2011
I submitted a track that's glitchy ambient IDM sort of stuff so my guess is yes if it doesn't suck too much...
Miho Iwakura · 2018-06-05 19:03
What's your position on exclusivity? I have a couple unreleased tracks that don't fit in with any of my existing projects, but might work well here. If you were to release them, would you care if I also put them up informally on my soundcloud? To be clear, I'm not talking about dumping my back catalog on you or submitting tracks off a proper release I'm working on.
Drano · 2018-06-06 07:45
>>2013
I'd prefer "exclusive" tracks but I'm fine with releasing stuff that you release elsewhere. Currently two tracks have been released elsewhere.
At the start I wanted "exclusive" stuff but there is no reason for that so I changed my mind.
>>2011
Sure, I'd be interested in hearing some of your work.
Cutter · 2018-06-15 18:18

It will be released when I get the cover artwork.

not totally related to /mu/ but bandcamp reminding you to vote? it's like the corporations are trying to imply you have the power to make a difference

> it's like the corporations are trying to imply you have the power to make a difference
but you do make a difference
BC is not trying to convince you that you are important. A crucial part of BC are their rec algorithms, and they use every single bit of data for that.
Your vote is a grain of sand, and they need a fuarrrkton of grains of salt to make a beach.
idgaf if you vote or not, but it's not there for nothing. They ask people to vote because the algos won't magically predict what music fits what people, unless they have a fuarrrkton of data to correlate.
If I can make an educated guess, your vote won't be wholly consequential in the BC biosphere, but every person is a world and the algo will rec you music specifically affine to you based on the people who voted positively albums that you liked too. It's going to do that even if you don't vote just based on what you listen to. And by telling the great big bot what you think of that album, it will in turn rec it to other people who are adjacent to the whole cyberpunk/whatever-wave/retro-nostalgic/animeAES-futuristic movement, or whatever your cultural niche is.
So yes, your vote will not matter any more than your post on this board
Just vote if you liked it so others can find it

There's this person browsing this chan. And I love this person. I think this person used to love me at some point as well. Well such is the nature of a man, the things of the universe will never go in his favor. Hey person, you're my favorite person on this world. I love you.
Sincerely,
The man that wanted to start a band with you but never did, never could~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
