hello lainanons
recently, ive been playing around with different music players, since spotify mods dont work anymore. i found this nice player on reddit and made a custom theme for it with a fauux color scheme
i really like this player and maybe ill switch to it instead of spotify
what do you think? (ignore fav songs)

Auxio fits all of my use cases https://f-droid.org/packages/org.oxycblt.auxio/ but if you're into eye candy you might prefer symphony https://f-droid.org/en/packages/io.github.zyrouge.symphony/

>soykaf on spotify ""premium"" users listening to lossy low bitrate mp3
>buy sd card

sd cards have been super unreliable on my phone. Even if I use a card thats 32gb, it gets corrupted after a day or something. Is this just how androids are? I had a similar problem with my last phone 5 years ago. My dream solution to this is a NAS drive but I don't have the money for it. i'm also not sure if it would be too much in energy consumption. The other plan would be to rent a server somewhere and run a seedbox out of that

i never had this issue and i used a 128 GB sandisk sd filled at 90% for two years.
i got an EDL block for running a custom rom though, so actually don't follow my last three lines of advice there, smartphones are ass and i don't put music or anything else on mine anymore

Musicolet is great for a featured but bare-bones Android player. If you have a phone that still has an SD slot and don't mind the sacrifice on battery, local files are the way to go. Every company and their subsidiary want your money for a subscription, and your data for adrev, get your files however you want and play em local. Opus 160 is actually really good for filesize to quality ratio, MP3 320 is tried and true, and both will sound better than free-tier streams from xyz services. You could also get a sub $100 audio player for a separate device so you're not filling your phone up with music and soykaf you don't really need on it. I used to use some $15 pos player i found at a dollar store and a 32gb card and even that was a good amount of music with no phone restriction. Keep backups of your music DLs, else you end up with a corrupted card and have to go finding music again. If you have a hard time finding something on soulseek, but its on a streaming service there are a few a websites that will DL from them, or there are CLI programs that will download from the likes of Tidal or Apple Music. Nab a 1-month trial with a new account and go crazy on a friday night! Get wasted and download whatever looks interesting, and check it back out the next day.

I took it 2 steps above the minimum.
1. I got a bunch of cheap BT/MP3 players. One flick of a switch and my work playlist plays!
2. got some for my fren with completely different taste in music

I use spotifuck to listen to stuff when i'm outside, basically a webviewer app, it works and updates alongside web-spotify, so you dont need to be constantly updating it. Whenever i'm home tho i hook into Jellyfin with some playlists i have made and i listen to .flac files on my phone directly from my computer. I must admit Jellyfin phone player is pretty fuarrrking soykafty but i dont know of any other alternatives to stream music from my computer

I've been using for while and I'm not a big fan:
- audio keeps stopping, need to open the phone to press the play button again
- playlists sometimes freezes the app
- sometimes the audio leaks out of the speakers when i'm using headphones
