we've finally completed the music issue of lainzine. interviews were conducted by me, typesetting by kaelta, and nala cleaned everything up.
interviewed artists include Machine Girl, BôA, Octo Octa, and more - to see a full listing, see https://lainzine.org/announcements . the website is https://track44.net
The mixtape has been sent to kitty on fire records who, with hope, will release by the 22nd.
enjoy!

Six · 2025-02-27 02:30
we don't have to wait half a decade for each lainzine release?

thank you. you make it worthwhile

the mixtape has been finished for a while. kitty on fire mentioned wanting to release it and I still want to let them do it - though they check their text messages about once a month.
>>12947
the BôA interview was completed in October. Appleman actually submitted one of the questions

i wouldnt necessarily trust a label, you might as well self release it.
fsociety · 2025-02-27 14:16
>machine girl
nice. i saw them when they played the caverns with 100 gecs. never expected to see them in lainzine
really good work. the layout and typesetting looks great. love the artwork. hats off to the lainzine team.

kitty on fire is a nonprofit that sets themselves apart from labels, i know other artists who released through them and wouldn't touch a label. but I would very much like to know what the deal is, I thought they were our friends

We've spent about a month on a commission for cover art since it turned out we didn't have one that was the right format (1:1) for covers. Now that all the documents have been submitted to kitty on fire, they've told us "okay sick" a couple days ago we're just waiting for that.
In the meanwhile, some of the artists have already independently released tracks we were planning to use because of how long this took, and asked if we can publish additional tracks. Since we want to release soon, I'm thinking of instead doing a volume 2 comp a couple months from now with more artists scouted specifically from lainchan and some artists from the last comp returning as well. Overall I think this has been a learning experience for everyone.

i know I sound like a broken record repeating, but are any of the tracks I submitted on there through cockli on there? I was the guy who sent a picture of his guitar and some songs
Junk · 2025-05-31 23:11
track44 should be available on streaming and purchaseable as a physical casette very soon - give it one or two weeks.
>>13786
unfortunately not. the mixtape wound up going in a much more dance-oriented direction and we wound up not wanting to use covers. Also, some of the contributing artists are hip-hop producers and I seem to recall you not liking that kind of music.

Blockland, its a very old sandbox lego building game, like roblox but instead of corporate scum it was made by one guy in his basement who couldn't give a rat's ass about enforcing any rules whatsoever. had a pretty sizable (though very chaotic) community, but it's basically dead now except for new years.
note: game runs like soykaf on linux. the master server is also centralized, so if the dev ever decides to pull the plug (likely) you'd have to connect directly by IP

> PC on the background looks AI-made
who even made the album cover? there's no info on that on the bandcamp page
Junk · 2025-09-07 15:45

the computer isn't AI generated. artist goes by clarividenci.a on Instagram, if you want to talk to them or commission. asking KOF to include a link on the album page now
