lain-themed rave happening in nyc

Masami Eiri · 2024-10-30 14:54
breakcore/hardcore type of night. anyone here going?
Ender · 2024-10-30 15:05
I like it, I would go. I kno few artists, dj`s. we had cool raves at abandoned buildings, ages ago. I'm suprised that's even still a thing in NYC. Should be livestreamed imo.
Miho Iwakura · 2024-10-30 15:46
>>12613 i'm surprised this doesn't happen more often in portland. clubs have emo and anime nights fairly often, but never a lain-specific night
William Holtzer · 2024-10-30 19:16
friend I know is. hello nobody if you're here nyc is a long way to walk for me tho
Six · 2024-10-30 20:54
Damn, I have no way to get to NYC.
netrunner · 2024-10-31 01:37
>>12615 hi :) sure is a small world around these parts
Mitnick · 2024-10-31 02:48
>>12612 someone who lives in NYC please teach me how much of a pain in the soykaf is it to get to this venue from grand central? also how likely am i get have a "exciting" encounter with a local en route? i hate cities like i hate the antichrist, but i love lain so it would be nice if i could figure out a way to go...
Chani · 2024-10-31 09:52
>>12618 you'd just be taking the 5 train to 14 Union and then the L train to montrose. you'd be going to williamsburg which is probably the safest neighborhood in brooklyn im p sure
Lord Nikon · 2024-11-02 04:08
>>12619 > lain rave is in the hipster neighborhood its so over. lain is buried and the corpse is being periodically exhumed for theme nights. when the real is no longer what it used to be nostalgia assumes its full meaning. i will not be attending this undignified pastiche. what's that you say? purity filter set?? well... perhaps
Netrunner · 2024-11-02 05:39
>>12621 Would you rather it be in some place you get mugged?
Yamaoto Toshi · 2024-11-02 05:53
>>12623 at least in that case i'd be able to smuggle in cheap beer
Trinity · 2024-11-06 15:55
>>12612 if anyone gets to go, PLEASE record and share the experience
Tank · 2024-11-06 17:07
>>12621 probably a bunch of normal person potheads there too
Special Agent Bob · 2024-11-06 21:34
>>12612 not in nyc, but im curious what its gonna look like someone take pics if you're going
Junichi Fujiwara · 2024-11-07 04:16
fuarrrk this looks like something I'd enjoy but I have a date Friday night which I'm excited about. Is it weird to take someone who doesn't know lain to this??
Junichi Fujiwara · 2024-11-07 07:18
>>12641 >Is it weird to take someone who doesn't know lain to this?? Nah it's cool. Try it out! If they like rave I think they'll like this venue. Let's all love lain! Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!
Batou · 2024-11-07 07:37
I have a friend that's 19 and wants to go, does she need a fake ID?
Meddler · 2024-11-07 10:17
>>12641 i'm pretty sure a lot of the people showing up will be doing so more for the music than for the lain theme still, we should all try to find each other at the event. do a lil lainchan meetup
Pris · 2024-11-08 15:20
hope anyone whos going has a good night tonight. im not one for raves, but im an hour out from the venue. enjoy yall.
Agent Smith · 2024-11-09 07:10
For anyone who went, how did it go?
Lord Nikon · 2024-11-12 18:10
>>12646 not gonna lie, soykaf went pretty hard. and this is coming from someone who hates the nyc rave scene
Undisclosed · 2024-11-12 18:15
>>12649 based. glad to hear it. only been to one rave in my life (infected mushroom).
Nameless · 2025-03-01 15:04
>>12649 I'm sure the drugs helped, right?
Judge Fang · 2025-03-01 18:29
>>12968 "what did the ravekids say when the drugs wore off?" "this music is like kicking dead whales down the beach!"
Nobody special · 2025-03-02 09:42
peripeteia made me addicted to breakcore
Apoc · 2025-03-06 17:16
another one of these shows just got posted up on RA
Mario Rossi · 2025-03-30 07:51
>>13059 sounds awful why in the world are you there then
Switch · 2025-03-30 08:03
>>13059 Seems like you don't know how it is to live in a soykafhole country where the most interesting thing you can do is drink till you pick up a fight
Masami Eiri · 2025-03-30 18:09

Erik Johansson · 2025-04-27 20:14
Fuuuck I tried walking to this from Colorado and turned around when I realized I wasn't going to make it and just now got back home. Sorry I couldn't be there guys. Hope it was fun.
The Fin · 2025-09-30 15:22
>>12612 >>12992 This soykaf looks so cool! Any lain heard of something like this in Berlin? Doesn't have to be specifically lain themed.
XERXES · 2025-11-05 02:58
>>12612 raves are a thing in 2020s? WOW >>12614 >>12621 To be quite honest, Lain had to deal with Japanese habitat. Japan is known to be too strickt to allow *those* raves in 90s so... ... there is some room for a "WHAT IF???"
Elliot Alderson · 2025-11-20 15:04
Is there anything similar in the Midwest/Chicago area?
Dr. X · 2025-11-21 00:40
>>14288 >raves are a thing in 2020s? WOW you gotta be joking, they always were a thing but post COVID it seems like everyone I know went on a party bender and only now people are waking up with drug addiction
H.R. Giger · 2025-11-27 02:32
>>14335 >but post COVID it seems like everyone I know went on a party bender and only now people are waking up with drug addiction oof worse than disappearing into the Lethe
Project 2501 · 2026-01-14 18:28
wtf I've only dreamed of something like this happening and I'm just now seeing this over a year later. Are these a regular thing? Any coming up? I'll swing up to NY for one. May be weird being in my early 40s going to a rave but for a Lain-themed event idc
Tomohisa "Tom" Kanezaki · 2026-01-15 10:01
>>14431 >May be weird being in my early 40s going to a rave but for a Lain-themed event Nothing wrong with that as long as you don't hit on every 18 year old girl you see, those guys are usually the reason to why we don't like to see older folks at raves >inb4 she was only X you fuarrrk I'm specifically talking about the slobs in sports cars who read pop psychology about ddlg and "daddy issues" then try to apply that in order to get hookups, nothing particularly wrong with the age difference in my eyes, it just happens that a lot of the guys who are in those relationships fit my criteria.
Cereal Killer · 2026-01-16 07:52
>>14433 I completely agree with you. I don't tend to hit on women at raves in general but if I do it's only if they're closer to my age and making the first move or at least eye contact (not super common but they're out there clubbing at our age too). I'm just there for the vibes, and a Club Cyberia show is something I could 100% vibe to
Dozer · 2026-01-16 09:25
>>14433 I wouldn't assume too much based on what fetishes someone is into unless they are weirdly loudly obsessive about it irl but I get what you mean about the whole manipulation pickup-artistry thing but that is independent of that standing alone as iffy. In my limited experience about BDSM relationships it isn't always the one in the Dom role who is into it the most. Id say there also are two varieties of BDSM roles the harsh kind and the gentle kind. The harsh variety is about humiliation, degradation, lots of pain, and more control. The gentle kind is more difficult to explain more about pampering, protecting, embarrassing in a good way and encouraging mutually desired sexual exploration. Of course there is some mixes too. The doms of the harsh kind whether daddy, mommy, master, owner from what I've heard of some from some Sub friends of mine mentioning they can sometimes be abusive, not all but enough I know any girl into that should be extra careful knowing and to establish the actual clear boundaries. The bad ones did things like encourage their eating disorder or encourage their self harming. Personally if I were to talk to a girl at some rave or club or something it wouldn't trying to hook up but befriend them or just trying to be nice then find an excuse to walk away. I haven't been to any before though since never got out enough and I feel anxious around crowds but I might like the vibes of some enough to handle that IDK
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2026-02-07 21:55
new flyer just went out on their instagram apparently they're trying to keep throwing raves until they can open an actual club cyberia
Linda Lee · 2026-04-28 20:50
>>12612 man I wish I could have gone to this. I went to a rave at this place called rainbow city in portland- it was a cyberpunk disco. Super awesome and there were other lainons and VHS glitch art, some of the bombest music I ever heard and I fried acid. Had a fuarrrking great time. Schway as all heck- miss that scene.
Armitage · 2026-04-29 06:02
>>14479 >apparently they're trying to keep throwing raves until they can open an actual club cyberia Oh neat! Hope they get there soon!
Debbie Charteris · 2026-04-29 15:46
>>14479 >March 20th So, how was it? Did anyone go?
Lord Nikon · 2026-04-30 19:34
This was announced April 21! Their instagram is @cyberia.nyc fuarrrkkkk I really wish i could go to this but I have work. I wish I saw this thread sooner I probably would have made some of the other ones.
Emmanuel · 2026-05-04 13:35
>>14595 Surprisingly had a lot of fun with it. I expected a lot of cringeworthy anime fans but it was just like >100 goths drinking dancing and hanging out. Kinda wish I got to talk to more people though >>14603 I also have work.... I bought a ticket anyway though. I might try and take a small nap in the evening and then do a small sleep at night. Either that or just a fuarrrkton of coffee.
Jean Dupont · 2026-05-06 12:01
>>14603 I was invited to play this and their past few events, but it hasn't really worked out.
Crash Override · 2026-05-07 16:39
>>14603 Anyone here going to this?
Koichiro · 2026-06-19 06:07
>>14603 dam these are getting frequent. july 9th anyone down to make a lainchan meetup happen?
Random · 2026-06-21 14:43
somebody at the last show splatter diareah all over the dance floor near the dj shack. it was amazing. i saw one guy slip and roll in it
Anamika · 2026-06-22 22:50
>>14679 Did they get kicked out?
Anamika · 2026-06-23 11:17
>>14678 this doesnt say what time it's at
Hououin Kyouma · 2026-06-27 20:02
>>14683 It says 2100 (9pm). Or maybe that's the year... in which case we have about 74 years left.
Spooky · 2026-06-30 12:15
>>14678 This one ended up getting cancelled unfortunately From what I understand what happened was a bunch of hyaks got very upset about the idea of a "lainchan/4chan rave" and got the venue to take it down
Unspecified · 2026-06-30 12:23
>>14702 what?! even though it has nothing to do with chans at all? buncha weirdos... Hope they can recover and host at a later date.
Agent Richard Gill · 2026-06-30 12:39
>>14703 Nah it basically is a chan party lol, even if they're not advertising it. I know at least two of the people on their team that are systemspace refugees
The Fin · 2026-06-30 12:51
>>14603 >>14678 >>14702 How do you find these anyway? Not that it matters much because I'm not in NY, but I'm curious.
Mario Rossi · 2026-06-30 19:38
>>14702 That is the faggiest thing I have heard in a while and I dont even like lain or raves
Anonymous · 2026-08-03 16:23
>>14705 there's an instagram (@cyberia.nyc) and also the events usually pop up on the RA website speaking of which, there's a new one happening next week
Marly Krushkhova · 2026-08-04 18:29
>>14768 anyone going to this?
Just another Random Lainon · 2026-08-12 10:49
>>14770 From my experience there are usually at least a few of our people at the cyberia parties
