Yung Lean, Drain Gang and others

Okay, Lain, let's make it sure, what do you really think about him and his bench of friends, known as Drain Gand, Sad Boys etc. Are they really done that much to music or it's just overrated soykaf for kids in middle 2010s?

Gonna be honest, never heard of them at all. Only Yung Lean a bit but all I see is the same personality like some other popular rappers

Their music, especially dg, doesn't really follow the traditional rap topics of poverty, dealing drugs, violence/gang, etc. Its usually abstract, talking about loneliness, depression, or is just goofy/silly. I think its why a lot of internet people enjoy it. Their producers play a huge role on the innovation side - see Magic Is Strong, Deletee, Who Goes There, Perfect Violation. Also Dragonfly samples Lain so thats also cool.

>>12592 > doesn't really follow the traditional rap topics of poverty, dealing drugs, violence/gang Only in their early works, till they got invited to LA, where they tried to use all of drugs, you can find there. Such fun in it was it those fact, that after LA they all got into rehub. It's reflecter in Stranger by Yung Lean.

Yeah its kind of guilty pleasure to me. I enjoy their stuff sometimes because its sad in a good way. somehow sadder than usual hiphop "sad" or idk. also they are really popular in my country.

early yung lean has an unmatched aura that I just absolutely love , it will never be replicated, it will never come back either. It’s probably all biased because of being a teenager when I found it. But I’m yet to find another aesthetic like that which I can describe as being alone in a cheap 3d OpenGL videogame ice skating in a space station, wondering where everyone went

DG, SBE, GBSG, saved me and raised me. they are the greatest of all time without a doubt

I originally didnt get it at all now I kind of do. I think bladee and ecco2k will probably have the most impact and continue to in the years to come, im not huge on the rest but dont hate it either.
