Concerts / Raves / Festivals

I guess this should go here. Got tickets to Boa for next week. Actually gonna be my first concert. Any advice? Experiences? This thread can be to share your times at concerts, clubs, big or small. Just like small subcultures in the Wired, there exist small ones in the real world. Interesting to see them mix, I doubt though there's many if any lainons at the concert. Side question, what do you think would be a subtle way to show your ingroup status as a lainon? Obviously somehow on clothing, but putting lain herself is too obvious. I guess the Navi symbol? or the Knights?

The three goldren rules: bring ear plugs, wear extra deodorant, and start hydrating the day before. Otherwise just do whatever is fun. >first concert Congrats. Is there anything specific you're anxious or curious about? >show your ingroup status as a lainon If you want to meet up with a lainon just mention the concert in the meet ups thread and see if anyone is going. if you mean lainon as just any lain fan, I'm sure there will be plenty of people in lain merch at the show.

>>12556 thanks for the advice. bit worried about the social aspect. obviously no one’s talking during the concert, but how is it before and after? mostly ok to go up to strangers or just stick with your group?

>>12563 Yeah, approaching strangers is normal at shows. I usually talk to whoever ends up next to me whenever I end up in a line (line to get in, line to the bathroom, line to get water) and during breaks between sets. Sometimes you'll end up hitting it off and sometimes you'll just small talk a bit (so dont feel bad if after the show, your only interactions were short and fleeting), but nobody is ever offended or confrontational. There's usually nothing better to do when waiting between sets so people are usually happy for the interaction. After the show, people will be even more receptive to socializing since they'll be in higher spirits and anyone who doesn't want to be around people won't stick around, but don't let that stop you from talking to people before the show either Shows are one of the easiest places to socialize. If you want to make it even easier, bring some small themed trinkets to hand out. Works best at raves where there's a culture of doing such, but it's a fun ice breaker at any show and I bet the boa crowd would appreciate it. Excited to hear how it goes. Have fun lain
