hyperpop thread

please be nice · 2024-07-06 04:48
here to discuss all types of hyperpop music like the first wave (think sophie, charli xcx, AG cook, hannah diamond), post-100gecs-core, and the later or lesser known artists signed to PC music at the end of its lifetime. is anybody listening to Brat? I've been relistening to Crash and I really like how in the early mix of Yuck it was made to sound a lot more tender - its like gave a completely different tone and changed its message. are you looking forward to the post-humous sophie album?

>>12361 >are you looking forward to the post-humous sophie album? definitely looking forward to this but i haven't heard much about it. is it like a compilation or will there be tracks that have never been circulated before? brat is pretty good. the cover art is clever and subversive, although initially dissapointing! "everything is romantic" is my favorite track. really love the high bpm club/edm sound that some of the songs have on this album

>>12361 >is anybody listening to Brat? Love Brat. It's my favorite album of 2024, but I've been a big Charli fan for years so I'm biased. Anyone seen any of her stadium shows yet from this tour? I'm debating on getting a ticket. I've seen her a couple of times before and the shows and crowd were great (seeing twinks do poppers then immediately start a mosh pit when Vroom Vroom came on was an experience I'll never forget), but I have an aversion to stadium shows because, in my experience, the crowds are usually a lot more dead (can't rave from your seat, and standing section ticket prices make people weary of moving due to the worry that they'll lose the spot, so nobody goes hard).

>>12362 >tracks that have never been circulated before? it depends on what you mean. a ton of her unreleased stuff has been leaked online, while im not sure if the tracklist for the album was leaked its been rumored that she was working on a pop album, and speculated this album will be it. >>12364 If i was in your city i would. she sold out her show here and in the closest other place her tour is in. > the crowds are usually a lot more dead wait thats suck actually. maybe i dont feel bad after all

>>12364 I got to see her in chicago, super fun, good crowd, if you like brat you'll love the tour because the album is basically the entire set.

huh, i thought i listened to a lot of hyperpop, but i haven't heard of any of these artists. i mostly listen to drama trial, fyoum and user.

do you think any of the brat remix album was planned ahead of time? for some reason the girl, so confusing with lorde was a disappointment to me
Koos van der Merwe · 2024-08-04 16:19
>>12447 Yeah it probably was. Normal album, deluxe album, then remix album is a pretty common thing in the industry right now. Apparently it's a trend that's partly due to remixes counting towards the original song in some billboard ranking stuff or some soykaf. The lorde remix was okay but I agree that it was underwhelming. same with billie on guess. they're fun for a novel listen but the songs work better without them. but some of the remixes from the two boiler room sets she's done have been great.

>>12448 makes sense. can you link the sets?

just listened to pic related.. i thought that the oversaturation of the album and times new roman on green background would ruin it for me, but i was surprised to find it decent. it made me consider an alternate history in which the album campaign wasn't as sickeningly popular.
