Young And Heartless, a alt-rock(?) band that has been going since ~2012. They're really fuarrking good; they aren't "innovative" or whatever, but they nail production and lyricism. My favorite release from them (and the first release I ever listened to by them) is The Pull of Gravity: https://youngandheartless.bandcamp.com/album/the-pull-of-gravity They dissapeared after releasing another project and making a few social media posts in 2020, and there hasn't been any sign of their return. Their website, https://yngndhrtlss.com/, which was registered with Squarespace, is now expired. I hope that they're all doing ok, their music means a lot to me.

There was this singer/songwriter from Michigan I like who made lo-fi punkish rock music in the 90s; Cranford Nix. He never got big and I think a part of the reason why was for his crippling drug addictions. Toward the end of his life, he put out 2 albums with a band called The Malakas and for the first time he actually had good production: https://youtu.be/9UCY1GcVof0 He died in the early 2000s when he was still in his 30s. Multiple organ failure from drinking, I think. Sad, but the music is still good. This is probably his signature song: https://youtu.be/78Gu8jD6yec My favorite project of his, and this is getting really obscure, is a demo he put out in the 90s with his band Semi Precious Gems. The only audio available of this are low quality mp3s put together on the Cranford Nix website, which is maintained by one of his personal friends to keep his memory alive: http://www.cranfordnix.com/ and a song from the demo: https://youtu.be/NDoE_iAUhiQ I think this is where he peaked as an artist, but because of the soykafty production this isn't one of the more popular of his projects. I did as much research as I could, and apparently this demo was called "We're Really Big" and was released in 1993. I found a Facebook post showing an image of the CD, and apparently one song is missing from this, yet to be unearthed. I emailed the guy that runs the website, and he said that he didn't have the missing song, so I'm still waiting for someone to upload the whole CD somewhere, hopefully in a higher bitrate as well. I just love the Semi Precious Gems project because I think it sums up the Cranford "character" the most, and his voice actually sounds better than it does in the later recordings. He can consistently hit the higher notes on "Satan song" during the choruses, for example. It's just a very rock n roll aesthetic that reminds me of punk rock like the Ramones but also some of the early 80s glam metal/rock bands like Smack. Also the lyrics are really funny and self deprecating, if you understand where they're coming from.

>>11980 Occasionally, I'll find something that completely reorients my perspective on a given medium, like this album, blue basin. Swerve released one album in 2021 and haven't done anything since. They've got a good sound, and with a small amount of polish, they could do really well.

Larmousse, a one-off late-90s british band that made an absolutely perfect dreamy post-rock album. They are pretty much completely forgotten which is shame considering how amazing the music is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urqzuxU4Gas

Orchid, esp. Secret Life of Words, Call to the Past, Tony Soprano. Found on Jamendo back when it was a sweet opensource community. At the very bottom of this compilation (660-ish), and here are a few more unknown artists at the following link -- You probably haven't heard of them. https://archive.org/details/JamendoAlbums_Assorted

I like scanning bandcamp and youtube and trying to find obscure ambient music because i always get amazed by variety of atmospheres some of them can achieve. And i do wish some of them were more known https://kafkasemyavin.bandcamp.com/album/a-step-by-step-guide-to-immortality https://aryanaids.bandcamp.com/album/joined-in-death https://fpr666.bandcamp.com/album/sombrous-transcending-the-umbra

https://yikii.bandcamp.com/album/gnm015-flowers-grave Yikii is probably my favorite artist. She has an excellent sound that I would probably describe as a mix of noise and ethereal wave and much more than just that. One of those artists that will just be described as "experimental" because her sound is so unique. She also has a website with her beautiful art and poetry. She seems to draw a lot of inspiration from video games as well. I haven't really found many other artists similar to her. https://appetitegbg.bandcamp.com/album/kr-kta-tankar-och-br-nda-vanor This band is another example of good noise. Very droney, somber, and melancholic. It somewhat reminds me of Shizuka's Heavenly Persona.
