music production thread

because i think we need one and i don't even know if we ever had one so here we go!!!!! some convo starters: >favorite DAW/tracker/instrument/synth/hardware/sampler/sequencer/mixer/midi controller/whateverthefuck? >what's your live setup like? >any smoking hot fire, preferably free sample packs you know about? >biggest inspirations? >any cool prod tips you wanna give us? >any cool prod tips you want from us? >what are you up to lately? go make music right fuarrrking now!!!!! but don't forget to tell us about it ;)

I like the format starter so I'll use it. >Right now I'm bumping the Make Noise synthesizer gear, but secretly I want something more powerful for west coast synthesis. Also have a love affair for guitar and sampling. Mostly use Logic Pro X. >Live set up is kinda mishmashed, just all my stuff running into a mixer that goes into an interface and theoretically a board if I ever play a show again. >I'm working on making a free as in opensource sample pack, just trying to reach critical mass on it. I record live loops and build songs around them so I've got a nice little collection so far >Use to be death metal, but dang I'm seriously getting into vaporwave and old school hip hop like a loser >Pro tip: Make the music sound good, layer it up nice, then worry about all that plugin crap. Great mix and master won't fix instruments that don't work together or even worse just a crappy song. >Man some dumb people mixing tech would be nice I am very much caveman in my approach. >Lately I'm just building up loops from my hardware and vst instruments. Just got a pedal kit to dip into soldering, so I'm pretty stoked on that.
