hard music (rock/metal)

A thread for hard music, whether it's rock or metal, it's all accepted here. I've personally been listening a lot to Mike Patton's various bands, especially Mr. Bungle, and bands adjacent to that, such as early Incubus, and Primus. Mr Bungle's debut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utlSZNPsgIA&list=PLnmeViH2WT_lAuleu0a2BXqgRbFLk6igG Incubus - S.I.E.N.C.E. (I love this album so much, but unfortunately they became rather soft after this one, I wish they had kept this vibe) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWk904f2dRo Primus - Sailing The Seas Of Cheese https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJXfRUw4QJw I know that a lot of early nu-metal bands like Korn and System Of A Down were inspired by Mr Bungle, but I've already heard those bands a thousand times so I'm searching for new stuff.

idk if this is the right kind of hardcore for you but I'm a big fan of the harsh noise genre. one of the more popular artists is hanatarash. they're famous for doing edgy stuff like breaking glass and other things on stage and driving a bulldozer into a venue one time https://youtu.be/06Ot0DaN1hM

If you ever heard anything like When Plagues Collide - Elizabeth, please share. This is essentially a perfect combination of symphonic melodies with aggressive deathcore vocals and guitars. Plus temp is perfect.

Lately been listening to Helmut Robot, very influenced by Mr Bungle. https://youtu.be/BaRKA5S-pXk Also Thinking Plague and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Both are experimental rock, very technical and creative. Really pushed the boundries. https://youtu.be/MQX0jnzoduI https://youtu.be/lh-8NCjRr1E

>>11193 I agree. Despite how much Wake Me Up gets meme'd, Amy Lee is a fantastic singer, and their songs, while cheesy, are still good.

of the 90s metal my favorites are probably Tool and Primus, I think they nicely encapsulate two sides of the acid head experience. There's so much stuff though! Kikagaku Moyo were kings of the heavy psych genre for a while, they've broken up now though. Their music was so beautiful! I remember when I went to one of their concerts I smoked a single joint but I was super high for about half an hour afterwards just because of the music.

Is it finally ok to admit that I've liked Limp Bizkit all this time? Yes, I'm serious! Their first album is a 10/10 masterpiece in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO8Ezturjiw

I was so heartbroken and confused around 2012 when the internet and YouTube changed dramatically and all of sudden the 2000s edgy rock music I grew up listening to practically vanished and wasn't cool anymore and Linkin Park and Evanescence became memes around 2015/2016? Now in recent years folks my age in their 20s are growing reminiscent for that time and some had older siblings that went to these bands' concerts when they were little. Here's just a few samples of what I remember listening to on the radio or online when I was younger (Avril Lavigne, Hinder, Breaking Benjamin, Fallout Boy, also a cool techno remix of Numb by Linkin Park): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8QYxmpuyxg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiSfTyrvJlg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWaB4PXCwFU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMY5VwfcGdU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6jqbx7t64A

Just posting some more punk rock ish stuff I like. If you've got any punk/alt rock recommendations for me then I'd love to hear e'm. Doubly so if it's newer stuff since I do still want to have hope people are still making rock music. (Oh, and the first two mp3's I uploaded are by Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers and The Replacements. I just didn't have the band names in the filename.) Just out of curiosity, is more alternative rock/new wave stuff acceptable here, too?
