Recently, I've started listening to newer releases and I'm going to try to keep track of all the albums that have come out this year. I have very specific tastes and I also think that my vibe and mood (while listening to an album) heavily impacts how I feel about an album. Anyways, I have heard a few albums this year but so far my top three are this year so far are... 3) Kali Uchis - Red Moon In Venus 2) Lil Yatchy - Let's Start Here 1) Paramore - This Is Why What have you guys heard this year that you really enjoyed? What albums are you really looking forward to? Any recommendations?

>1) Paramore - This Is Why this song was really fun, I'm glad another lain appreciated it as much as I did. >What have you guys heard this year that you really enjoyed? -boygenius album -ada rook trap metal song with health, actually pretty much every ada rook thing -https://on.soundcloud.com/wxXTN -the scary jokes album which is releasing one song at a time -xfree99x -purity filter & sextrance in general -a couple of songs by blackwinterwells, yandere, murrumur, alice gas, emorave, everything by 8485. a couple other artists out of dollhavenn / helix tears I forget which -technopagan -some punkinlovee -the new genre of "scenecore" that's electronic music rather than metal -SOME of the 100 gecs album -shygirl -https://on.soundcloud.com/EKMbc -nightingale astralya but her 2022 song gaslighter is still my favorite by her >what are you looking forward to? -remainder of the scary jokes album -cierra myst gets undepressed and sextrance grows as a scene in general -my friends, like https://on.soundcloud.com/v6xKq, improving as DJs and doing live sets in my local scene -xarkal na fraktal improving as an artist -the music collective around esper99/black dresses/so drove/ash nerve have been consistently creating amazing music and making new collaborations as well as expanding, happy to see more of this coming out -xfree99x and their friends growing, like the new Aiv album -t4tluvnrg growing as a label/collective idk rlly since I don't pay close attention to new music announcements and the one person I talked to about new releases is away. looking forward to a bunch of live shows like 100 gecs / machine girl in my city. >recommendations OP I recommend you if you're not already familiar pinkpantheress, ice spice, charli xcx, uffie's french pop song, the new lana del ray album, studio killers

>>11011 >What have you guys heard this year that you really enjoyed? My top three albums for the year so far: ORAX - Crash Yet another high-quality synthwave album from one of the best artists in the genre. I wouldn't put it on the same level as his previous work, Love Kills The Demon, which I think might be my favourite ORAX album, but it comes very close. Favourite track: "Crash" FIDLAR - That's Life The future of FIDLAR seemed uncertain after Almost Free. As a new fan, it would've been a shame for them to break up just as I was seriously getting into their music. However, they're back, and in good form, too. Favourite track: "On Drugs" 100 gecs - 10,000 gecs All of the speculation surrounding this album can finally be put to rest. I think Laura and Dylan more than delivered here. In fact, I consider it to be a superior album to 1,000 gecs. Favourite track: "The Most Wanted Person in the United States" Some singles I enjoyed: ALEX - NARCISSIST Ed Harrison (0edit) - Optigog (Optigog) Gorillaz - New Gold (feat. Tame Impala & Bootie Brown) (Cracker Island) JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES (SCARING THE HOES) Kim Dracula - Seventy Thorns (feat. Johnathan Davis) (Seventy Thorns) Leathers - Highrise Sidewalks and Skeletons - ERASED (Black Flame Eternal) Vazum - Night Shade (Night Shade) >What albums are you really looking forward to? City Morgue should be releasing a new album any day now (which may be their last one), Queens of the Stone Age (lots of speculation about an album release some time this year), Slomosa (Norwegian desert rock band; they're working on something new), new Death Grips, new 3TEETH, a big release from ALEX (hopefully) and Perturbator's follow-up to the phenomenal Lustful Sacraments. >Any recommendations? I'd recommend anything I've listed thus far.

>>11011 I've been tracking Yves Tumor's new album since its first single and have been pleasantly pleased with the entire album Other than that, most releases I've heard this year were pretty forgetful, as of typing this I can't remember any other album from 2023 other than Hot Between Worlds and the Black Country, New Road live album. Also Lil Yachty's Let's Start Here album as well which I thought was alright. (Looking through my history, also 12 by Ryuichi Sakamoto, fly high) I will be planning on listening to 10,000 gecs soon (from what I've heard so far it's pretty good, just much like 1000 gecs.) Any recommendations, I don't really know, I've just been binging Unwound again.

Poppy's Spit/Church Outfit is one of my favorites. Been listening to her since the poppy.computer era and it's been great to hear her expand into mixing every other genre I listen to together. Hey other releases in the past couple years are also worth a listen Like everyone else, 100 gecs new album is one of my 2023 favorites so far. I saw them live in 2021 and it's been cool to finally hear a studio version of some of the at-the-time-unreleased songs they played. I'm a little disappointed that Fallen 4 U didn't make the album. >>11024 >>11011 >Paramore - This Is Why I just saw them live a couple days ago. They put on a great show. The new album has some other great songs too. It's worth a full listen through if you haven't already. >>11024 >blackwinterwells, 8485 I had a chance to seem them live a while ago, but got sick and missed it. A huge regret. 8485 is one of my favorite artists. >charli xcx I've seen her live a couple of times and both times were some of the best shows I've seen. There's something uniquely invigorating about being in a mosh pit where you have to worry about getting chemical burns from someone spilling poppers on you. Are there any official releases from her for 2023 besides the Welcome to My Island remix? Great taste, lain. glitch gym, elyotto, and food house might be up your alley. >>11209 That was really fun. Good breakdown. I miss Count Your Blessings era BMTH but listening to this I fully support pop punk BMTH. Thanks for sharing

>>11214 >I had a chance to seem them live a while ago, but got sick and missed it. A huge regret. 8485 is one of my favorite artists. wells was live here last summer, eighty got covid and couldnt make it though. a shame, eighty is favorites too.. sure we'll both see her at some point! >Charli xcx... Are there any official releases from her for 2023 besides the Welcome to My Island remix? she has an exclusive track on the barbie soundtrack, apparently. food house is fun but not always thee vibe, I think its too abrasive? but i like noise.. idk how to describe it, just kind of 100 gecs-y, which i also like, but not always. but havent heard the other ones, so, thank you! shall listen

>>11216 >she has an exclusive track on the barbie soundtrack, apparently. There's a minute long bootlegged snippet of a cover of Barbie Girl she and AG Cook recently did together on youtube: https://youtu.be/kXwzvukjdFA Sounds good. I'm excited for the full version. >food house is fun but not always thee vibe, I think its too abrasive? Fraxiom's solo stuff might be more up your alley. There's some abrasive songs in their catalog too, but less so than in food house. >>11214 Forgot to mention: Rebecca Black's "Let Her Burn" EP is my top album of 2023. A couple songs: Destroy Me - distorted thalling guitar, dnb, and pop all in one - https://youtu.be/SmjegPx65YY Doe Eyed - catchy (hyper-ish) pop - https://youtu.be/pAHPj4IzT4c Slightly off topic since it's from 2022, but I'd be remiss mentioning Rebecca Black without also recommending her Rebecca Black Was Here EP. Here's a hyperpop track produced by Glitch Gum from it: https://youtu.be/o0026HekAlA I also completely forgot about Covet's recent album. Strongly recommend for math rock fans. https://youtu.be/cAucSGARobQ >>11027 >Favourite track: "On Drugs" I didn't know FIDLAR released a new album. Gave this track a listen and liked it. Going to listen to the rest tomorrow. Thanks lain
