I've been in love with King Crimson's Starless ever since I first heard it. It was one of my introductions to Prog. Rock as well, which perhaps does help. Otherwise, the rest of the album was pretty unremarkable I think, but I haven't listened to the full thing in a while; either Discipline or In the Court of the Crimson King would be my favorite full release from KC. Or Larks' Tongues in Aspic.
From ELP, I think I prefer Brain Salad Surgery over Tarkus, but it might just be that I've burnt myself out by listening to the latter way too many times. Camel's Mirage and Som Imaginario's Matança do Porco also come to mind as albums I've enjoyed quite a bit at some point. I don't know, I'm quite shallow as far as music goes.

Nektar's Journey to the Centre of the Eye and Remember the Future are great. Also a great fan of Camel's Mirage and Moonmadness.
Don't really like Genesis and Yes as much as before, though.
Is Lamechan blocking Tor or what? I get "Your IP address is listed..." a lot.

Felt the same way about Discipline, Red is a banger though. Larks tongue is fantastic, it sure marks the inprovisational spirit the band would follow afterwards. Both Som Imaginario and Camel are amazing, very soothing. Camel's Snow Goose makes me very emotional.

Haven't heard Nektar, will check it out. Yes is fantastic but genesis never really clicked for me, guess it's more prog in the literary sense more than the complexity of the instrumental compositions.

Does Mars Volta qualify? They've kinda blurred the line across various genres.
Either way, Frances the Mute is one of my favorite albums of all time. Yes, it has a bit too much down time, but when it hits? It REALLY hits.

Love Starless too, easily one of my favorite King Crimson songs.

Frances The Mute is a fantastic album. Being spanish native speaker some vocal parts were tough to swallow but the overall energy makes up for it. I think my favourite album used to be Amputhecture

I love all their albums; Amputechture and Deloused and right below Frances for me.
What'd you think of their self-titled album last year? Wasn't quite the "Mars Volta sound" I was expecting (even compared to Noctourniquet and Octahedron) but I still enjoyed it.

to be honest i didn't know they released a new one. Them innovating sounds cool to me, they proved with their discography that they're capable of defying expectations succesfully.

That's pretty much me. Used to be a huge prog fan in the past, nowadays I can only enjoy some Canterbury and RIO at most. And even then, I suppose I prefer to listen to songs than whole albums. Anyways, I suppose my favourites albums would be Soft Machine's Vol. 2, Third and Fourth, but I really like the song "Μemories", which wasn't released in any studio album. I like most of Wyatt's discography, but Ruth Is Stranger Than Richard stands out for me. Used to really dig Hatfield and the North, specially their first album, but Calyx, Homerton, the second side of the first album, and Mumps are really sublime. Henry Cow's Unrest is another favourite of mine, Half Asleep/Half Awake is one of the best tunes I've ever heard. Supersister is another nice band, but the vocals annoy me at times. Aksak Maboul is another great band, and what's greater is that they're still active, and their recent albums are good. A band that I rarely see people talk about is Cos. Postaeolian Train Robbery is very nice, albeit quite noisy, and Viva Boma is surely one of the best prog efforts, should be on any Top 10 prog list IMO.

What about Italian prog? Masterpieces like Le Orme's Felona e Sorona, Banco del Mutuo Soccorco and Premiate Forneria Marconi first three LPs should be in every proghead collections.

Yeah, used to like PFI and Banco a lot, but nowadays it reminds me too much of Genesis or ELP. I still enjoy Alphataurus and Museo Rosenbach's Zarathustra. But my favourite Italian prog album would be Picchio Dal cyberhumpo's eponymous.

Nascimento is not strictly prog-rock, or is it, I don't know, whatever, it's fantastic. Divine Light is peak Santana, it's amazing, also check out Caravanserai and Moonflower. Close to the edge is close to the edge.

Lain bless soft machine's fourth. Absolute masterpiece. Been listening to pretty much what you described, specially RIO. Lend an ear to Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Thinking Plague (both very henry cow inspired), and Fulano (this one's in spanish, lots of jazz fusion)
