Constantly curating mine which is bigger than yours. Recently got into the interesting parts of city pop (mixed with fusion or new wave) like Taeko Ohnuki's Sunshower, Akina Nakamori's 不思議 and Junko Yagami's Communication.

What kind of advice is that? Pink Floyd had so many phases, they were pretty much a different band several times over. Godspeed have about one great song per album, the rest is musical wallpaper.

>Wow, I wasn't expecting to see Cuarteto de Nos here. Good stuff! Do you like other stuff from that area?
Yeah well i really really love spinetta, cerati and caifanes (you know the drill) (refering to latin american bands i guess)

Spinetta based af. All of his projects are amazing, i love spinetta jade, it's his jazzy era. Listen to charly garcia if you haven't, seru giran and la maquina de hacer pajaros are mindblowing, as well as his solo stuff.

I have charly on my plans, i know spinetta because of an old friend, he showed me artaud but now i really got into the rabbit hole
Also have tried to learn some of his stuff on guitar

I'll have to listen to cap n jazz then. Apparently one of the members of American Football is in it. Sounds right up my alley! Thanks for the recommendation.
>cerati
He is unbelievable. What a visionary--his discography is otherworldly.
Music from the Rio de la Plata is something else. That area is breeding ground for innovation. I have one strong recommendation from that area to make: a band called Bajofondo. They make an incredible blend of tango with electronic-type production and hip hop elements. Their most famous work is the song El Mareo which features Cerati, but you may also know them because the guy that leads the band is the guy that wrote the The Last of Us OST. Check it out (try their Mar Dulce album first)!

IMO cap n jazz gotta be the greatest midwest emo band, idk they are just amazing, they arent as gentle as american football but they are chaotic, fun and incomprehensible, thats why i like them so much
Oh thanks for the rio de la plata music recs anon, really appreciate it, ill add them to my list thanks
Sabo Engle · 2023-06-26 15:02
Just made this one to show on the internets how cool I am no jokes I plan to use it on a dating site.
I must say it's not an easy task to really tell what's my favorites albums, it depends of the current mood mostly but I tried to give a look on the kind of music I enjoy more than a special album, this is why it can looks like completely normal person tier for /music/.
If so I had to create one topster for Rallizes, another one for neofolk, for electro, vaporwave, metal, hip-hop...

to be honest i listen to music by albums, gets a clearer picture. By Spinetta i'd recommend Kamikaze (very acoustic and unorthodox chord progressions) and Bajo Belgrano (easily top 5 latin jazz fusion albums i've heard, the whole band is a powerhouse)
I really, REALLY, recommend Peliculas by Charly's La Maquina De Hacer Pajaros. It's on a whole another level.
Another, less known recommendation is Alas self titled album. It's a very tango infused progressive rock with a lightning-fast keyboard.
Rio De La Plata sure has some bomb ass music.
What songs or albums are your favorites?
Wintermute · 2023-06-29 16:57
>>11352
Oh me too, i always listen to the full album, but obviously i got some parts of the album that are my favorite, ill listen to taht spinetta rec later, really want to get in fito paez, charly etc
I absolutely love condenado (niño perdonado), fermin and cantata de puentes amarillos
Probably artaud is my favorite or El jardín de los presentes
And you?
Undisclosed · 2023-06-30 20:16
>>11353
Goddamn, they're all bangers. Perdonado has an amazing breakdown, very psychdelic. Artaud is a masterpiece, every single song.
My favourite ones are probably La Aventura De La abeja Reina (Kamikaze), Viaje Y Epilogo (Bajo Belgrano), and Toda La Vida Tiene Musica Hoy (A '18 Minutos Del Sol). I'm not a guitarrist but his works are a fuarrrking chord bible, insanely atypical and beautiful.
I don't like hating on Argentinian music but i really don't like Cerati and Fito Paez's works. I get why they are good, but i feel it's more lyric driven and not that much of an emphasis on the instrumentals, something that doesn't happen to Charly despite his solo works being more lyric oriented.
Out of curiosity, are you from Argentina or Latinamerica? I haven't heard of many non-spanish speaking people listening to these artists.

You're almost right with Argentina, just think a lot smaller ;). Despite being from this area, I've only recently started to dive deeper into the local music scenes. so i used the site and its kind of poor. i feel like its just rating albums / collections with a lot of songs in them higher which doesnt even necessarily suggest amount of time listening to it, but even if it did then it wouldn't prove much e.g. if a relatively short album was listened to several times vs if a 6 hour collection was listened to once ever. it also weirdly seems to put near the top stuff I've mainly listened to once or twice in the past year vs things which i listened to repeatedly the year before.
of course, im relatively new to using spotify so it probably is not very much data to work with. at least some of this is accurate

some general recs to anyone who wants them
dicqbeats has been slowly navigating towards what i think will become one of the best digi hardcore sounds out there right now, this is their best track so far imo
https://dicqbeats.bandcamp.com/track/lunartic
a hype is 90% a total miss and 10% incredible, this in particular is one of my all-time favorite tracks. something about the atmospheric beat and amateur but very passionate lyrics
https://therealahype.bandcamp.com/track/in-the-zone-feat-nat3
shoegaze instrumental hook rivalling when you sleep imo
https://fullbody2.bandcamp.com/track/keygen-memory

Bizzare ride 2 is so underrated.
Overall I know I got a lot of greek stuff in here, but I do pivot from gabber to extreme metal and folk. Classical music is still top tier, I would recommend a full listen of the Rite of Spring, it sort of is the basis of all my musical taste I feel. Tribal Techno, to rural folklore and interwoven with human softness and horror.
Scalameriya is probably the best thing out there if you are into mecha, guy was doing sets in his room and he had all the volumes of BLAME! into his cupboard.
As for the greek stuff, I would rec Tassos Chalkias, but his instrumental only recordings are way more accessible than songs with lyrics. Try his Moiroloi (Dirge).

By the way, if Techno Animal is your thing, you'll probably have to try the countless other projects by Broadrick/Green/Martin with a large dose of electronica (Scorn - Vae Solis, Godflesh - Pure, GOD - Possession, Ice - Bad Blood) starting with this legendary remix album which was arguably an attempt at making Brotherhood of the Bomb before its time. Was one of my favourite "music crawling" period, almost everything these make is at least interesting.
In general, I think true good underground fusions of electronica (be it hip-hop, techno, EBM or dub) and extreme metal are very rare/often maligned even when they're good. Too much narrow-mindedness amongst metalheads; and I say that as one.

I listened to the Asphyx album yesterday at the gym. Pretty dope. Just right up my alley of heavier things and it made me wanna write again.
>>12927
I love godflesh. As for the Mayhem one I kinda heard back in the day that their newer stuff was mixed with dub and I got bandwaggoned into ignoring all of their newer discography.
A good techno - metal mix I found from the other side. Meaning, I've been listening to a lot of techno the past 8 years and I find metal influences from that side without really listening to much metal. I found this for example with a very nice guitar solo to accompany a good beat, without one overpowering the other. And if you listen to SNTS, Paula Temple for example, the influences are clearly there.

Anyone have that problem where people ask you what music you like, and you don't know what to say?
I've prepared a script if this ever comes up. "I like The Beatles and Daft Punk." I do love the Beatles, but except for Homework I don't like Daft Punk very much. I've felt a genuine answer would alienate people because they're meaningless names. Even if I did meet someone who likes the music I like, I wouldn't care much to talk about it with them. What's there to say about music? It speaks for itself.

School has been tough... good thing I can always kick back with some music. This is all the stuff I've been listening to most in the last few weeks.
Mostly been listening to Richard's user18081971 stuff. I've gone through a hundred of the tracks so far, only a third of the way through. The SC dump is probably my favourite thing he's done. A lot of the tracks are mediocre, yeah, but the stuff that's good is really damn good. I'm taking note of all the really good ones, here is a subset of the list.
>16 fresher + cleaner ; parking lot ; 16 soykaf squidge ; (water), also known as (watery big ez) ; notting hill bus ; 179 brk 2 ; avril 14th reversed music not audio [tapedel] ; luke vibert remix ; thy're here aahha ; dsb ; fork rave ; 20 pink floyd ; 5 heliosphan live ; (HAB un23) ; 34 ibiza spliffs ; th1 [slo]
Other than that, got really into bossa nova through SomaFM, and that led me to Brazilian 20th century music in general.
I'd like to recommend everyone in this thread listen to TzarBombah's Based and Redpilled. It's a tongue-in-cheek album, fun to listen to, with songs such as 'Nostalgic Manchild', 'I Hate Fat People', and 'Western Society'.

Hello! I'm back. I'm >>10364. I expected this thread to reach it's bump limit so I would post my new Topsters chart there, but it seems this soykaf still being here, so anyway I'll post again here anyways.
This time, my Topsters chart is about my all-time favorites (or maybe kinda of it) updated to 2025. I know, I've little shame to add +3 albums of the same artist/band, but it's inevitable, really like them a lot! Trying to listen to something new but, as you can see, it didn't work so well. That's why I'm asking for some cool recs (⌐■_■). Really deep into anything synth, especially minimal wave. Also trying to going into (no over-polemic) neo-folk. Probably, I think I'm going to ask the same stuff as my previous post.

Phyllomedusa - Fijian fantasies is by far the best known gorenoise performance and it's for a good reason, I can sort of feel a rhythm there so I don't know if I'd classify it as gorenoise but maybe I'm just rotten from the "true" gorenoise
Torture - War Crime: 37 Tracks - 37 Homicides is really lefty themed and digging through the backstory to those tracks is a pretty mind numbing mental journey, it sounds absolutely filthy and that's what I love about it
Cystgurgle - Ubi Pus, Ibi Fermento is one of the few gorenoise albums that's polished, the drum machine goes absolutely nuts there and it carries the album all the way through
And last but not least, Anal Birth- Infantbutchering not only that it has the classic more disgusting themes of gorenoise like downright harmful and homicidal perversion, but it's one of, if not the first gorenoise albums to be released, despite not ranking it as the best of the best I think you should still give Anal Birth a try, but do not listen to it first as I wouldn't compare it to be just as good if not even better than the other ones that I've recommended
You should probably start with Fijian Fantasies in case you haven't already
