What is for you all the scariest Black Metal Release you know of? For me it will always be Emit's "The Dark Bleeding" and alot of Abruptum stuff.

Deleted Scenes from the Transition Hospital by The Axis of Perdition gets my vote. Supposedly the primary inspiration for the project was the Silent Hill series. It sounds a bit like Abruptum mixed with classic Skinny Puppy and mid 90s Neurosis. Some of the projects from Les Légions Noires were pretty creepy too. They were a French circle around the same time as the norsecore bands only they never had anyone go "mainstream". The stuff by Moëvöt which is just a cappella, close harmony stuff with no instruments is quite chilling.

"Scary"? Music isn't scary. But here some (quite mainstream) stuff that can make you feel something.
Cowboy · 2022-07-19 14:18
>>10075 But how about deathgrind or goregrind? Do they have different way of "Creepy"?
Nell · 2022-07-20 12:18
>>10101 Rarely genres with much ambiance, no? On the subject of ambiance, anyone should try Infester's To the Depths, In Degradation.

>>10101 >>10105 The album Dawning by Mindrot is the closest I can think of, though the "clean" vocals are pretty embarrassing. I had a nightmare once where I heard some brutal, chromatic death metal with gorey vocals yet the same spooky atmosphere more or less as Transilvanian Hunger. I rose involuntarily and knew I was no longer in control of my body, which was off to kill humans and consume their blood.

Anything by Stalaggh. The vocals are recorded screams of mental patients, one of the band members works at a hospital or something. Give it a listen late at night. https://yewtu.be/watch?v=O827_EbJZjE

>>10204 stalaggh is noise music, not even metal.

Written in waters by Ved Buens Ende. Not exactly scary per se but so out there that it creates an uneasy atmosphère very well

Linda Lee · 2022-09-24 19:40

Not really "creepy spooky scary" in the sense OP is talking. But this makes me want to kill myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCeWnGpVRus
