Hardware music

I want to discuss music that can be made/altered by hardware only (no software). For now I'm only aware of guitar pedals, equalizers and synths.
I think that this subject deserves its own thread. Also try to keep it beginner friendly.

Eventide H910 Harmonizer?
Optigan?
Theremin?
Stylophone?
Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer?
Technics SL-1200?
Going back a ways, there's the player piano and steam calliope.

In my opinion, using hardware is way more fun and rewarding than a DAW on a laptop. It's a god damn addiction though, I constantly want more pieces of gear, despite not being even close to mastering my current setup.
I've got an Elektron Octatrack, RYTM Drum Machine, and Moog Sub Phatty Synth. Pretty fun little setup. I use the octatrack to control both the drum machine and the sub phatty via midi.
I'll sample directly into the octatrack using my microphone / computer / sub phatty and then mangle everything, sequence it, and add in drum beats with the RYTM.

And I guess those giant musical Tesla coils count, if you don't mind being blasted with lightning while you play.

I just remembered those talk boxes, like Peter Frampton uses. They're analogue, too, unlike the vocoder.

What interface did you get?

What synth/electronic music hardware would anyone recommend? Preferably something I could connect to my computer as well.

A buddy of mine has that interface. It's pretty good. Focusrite makes good interfaces. I have a Focusrite Scarlet - not as feature rich as the Saffire, but it gets the job done for me. Let me know how you like it after you play around with it a bit.

OP would probably dig the All Wave movement.
Analogue only, no digital.
