The Internet Archive is in court and is in danger

If there are books, software, etc that you need then you should probably start backing it up right now. https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/20/23641457/internet-archive-hachette-lawsuit-court-copyright-fair-use

>>8717 How's that going? Have thet not done what was done with z-library, where it goes into torrent / ipfs? If so we can try setting it up.

I will never understand the pursuit of the protection of intellectual property over the preservation of a vast hub of human knowledge. >>8717 >z-library, where it goes into torrent / ipfs? Know the details how that went? I never followed the story, only heard the headlines. Did people just mass download stuff from z-library and started torrenting? Internet Archive is so massive... At least keeping a copy of the wayback machine would be amazing.

>>8717 they are slowly trying to erase the internet

>>8719 Z-library is mostly a mirror of libgen. Libgen has been kept alive by a network of torrent seeds for years. All that stuff has been almost entirely automated for a long time. The effort to put the books on IPFS started years ago, along with the effort to make a usable offline database to search it.

>>8721 This is the real agenda in play. TPTB definitely don't like anything they can't censor being archived to look back upon to expose a truth that is against the narrative.
Nell · 2023-03-23 22:59
It feels like they’re going after the pillars of the old internet. The web is being gentrified.
Jet Black · 2023-03-24 17:44
>>8727 That's exactly what it is, and people should be up in arms.
Zero Cool · 2023-03-24 20:33
Well, if the internet Archive goes down, I can just look it up on the Wayback Machi-OH SHIT
Unspecified · 2023-03-24 23:04
What is the contingency plan if the Internet Archive does indeed get taken down?

>>8734 I've been mass downloading things for the last few months. >788G / 1.8TB for PS1 games I'll be starting up the 3DS sets soon, too. We really need someone to get on grabbing pre-1950 books. At the very minimum, pre-1900 but there are a lot of out of print books there and they could very easily be lost with time.

If corpos keep up the soykaf, there will eventually be more and more people who opt for violent terrorism and engaging in actual piracy just to spite them. I for one will never buy a book from the big publishers ever again. Nope. I will go to thrift stores and pirate. I will not pay for them to rape society for cash.

I rely on IA for a lot of stuff. I have soykafty wifi so there is no way I can download anything right now. Otherwise, I'd download as many pre 1900 era books as possible.

>>8737 New user here; what is the soykafty wiki and would you please post the link?
