What's better:
Learn about tech, then read cyberpunk novels.
or
Read cyberpunk novels, then learn about tech

Start with cyberpunk, that's the order I went in anyway. I turned out pretty well.

I mean, people back then were computer geeks that then started to read cyberpunk, now people do it the other way round, it's weird.
Maybe because the accessibility to the internet made people discover one thing before the other.
I think it's weird

Cyberpunk has barely anything to do with real tech, so I guess it doesn't matter.

This to be honest.
If you want "realistic" cybepunk go read Zero HP Lovecraft's "The Gig Economy" or something. Reading cyberpunk written in the 80s-90s is like reading space fiction written in the 50's -- it's fun but only because it's sometimes on the mark and other times way, way out in left field. "Realistic" speculative fiction is a completely different genre.
If you want some hacker culture to read while you learn, Assange's book about the Australian hackers is pretty good, and it actually happened.

Learning about tech first means having to interact with tech people and probably working in a tech company, if you do that, you have no reason to then read cyberpunk.
Cyberpunk books got the feel of our reality right in many ways but technically they were way off, the truth is modern tech is dominated by psychotic worm people that feed on misery but the work and technology is also boring as fuarrrk for the most part.

Learn about tech, get tired, relax with cyberpunk.
Different tools, different uses.

read cyberpunk novels as a teenager, learn about tech as an adult, write cyberpunk novels as an old user

If you study tech the magic element goes away. If you want cyberpunk to stay cyberpunk then commit to anything other than tech.
