Let's have a thread to discuss the Yiddish language, of course if you're familiar with the Yiddish language you will know that there isn't an standard version, so another thing that I would like to achieve with this thread is that we can come to an agreement of something that we will be proud to consider our own "standard version". resources for audio books in Yiddish: https://www.yiddishbookcenter.org/collections/yiddish-audiobooks resources for books in Yiddish: https://www.yiddishbookcenter.org/collections/digital-yiddish-library resources for the studying of the Yiddish alphabet: https://www.yiddishbookcenter.org/language-literature-culture/learn-yiddish-alphabet

A few years ago I read an article that said that the DDR considered Yiddish the "proletarian" Jewish language while speaking Hebrew was a bourgeois/Zionist trend. Israel promotes speaking Hebrew over Yiddish, which has led to Yiddish slowly dying off.

>>7787 before the ~1850s iirc hebrew was basically for all intents and purposes dead as it gets, a good deal deader than latin at that point. Its been revived, but sometimes is called the only successful constructed language, a great deal more so than i.e. esperanto (another jewish conlang). So yeah, basically the cool kids at zion.
