hi lain, i do voiceover work on the side and was curious if lainons would be interested in hearing some lain-adjacent or /lit/ books narrated. if so, which? if enough people are interested i'll set up a strawpoll or something. :)

Wow good idea, sounds like something that will bear fruit. Cyberia by douglas rushkoff obviously comes to my head, if it hasnt been already.

>>7228 Can you share some info on how you got into it and how it's going? Where do you advertise. I narrated two stories for a friend and people complimented my voice before when I do readings so I thought about it as a little cheap gig on fiverr.

>>7228 OP sounds like gigachad. I can keep dreaming of a voice like this.
Jens Hansen · 2022-04-15 12:41
>>7509 Wait, did OP post a reading somewhere? I'd like to listen to one of these books but I don't see any up yet.

OP here. >>7510 i've been hesitating on going ahead with this project, mainly because i'm female and wasn't sure if lainons would care for a female narrator or if they'd prefer someone with an epic manly voice like >>7504 , especially because i made led with a pic of morgan freeman hah >>7508 to answer your question, i started as a professional vocalist/singer. at some point i heard about https://learningally.org and decided to lend my reading voice to a few projects, mainly reading textbooks. this and https://librivox.org/ projects helped pad my portfolio. the ni started doing some paid gigs locally and on fiverr, nothing major. i do still do learning ally and librivox as well though. lains, please let me know if you're still interested and i will certainly give it a go.

>>7525 hey OP Considering the relative lack of mindless anti-woman sentiment on this site, I think lainons would be fairly receptive. My suggestion would be to post a small snippet (30sec-1min) of reading and perhaps which texts or subjects you are leaning towards. Then you can gather some opinions and go from there. If there is enough interest around this, I'm wondering if other lains would like to collaborate. I'm envisioning a narrator or two, couple people from the music threads to lend some background tunes, and a few editors to piece it together and find some sound effects. I would be up for any of that, though am probably best suited for reading (I'm this guy btw) >>7504

Maybe more of a commitment than youre looking fore but its a crime that there isnt an audiobook of it.

>>7525 OP, I also endorse doing a snippet of audio. anyone who does librevox rec's already pretty gigachad in my book. and you sound passionate about it. I feel ease on the ears when listening to girl VA in audiobooks too sometimes so in general I kinda fw it
