Astrology books

I've seen some basic material on astrology explaining how it works. But I have never seen any books on web explaining why it works. I tried to watch videos about symbolism of the zodiac , planets , correlation with alchemy. They don't give a broad picture , a fundamental understanding of this system. What I mean by this is why would people give characteristics to planets and stars and relate them to events on our planet and why it's kind of working? That's what I'm interested in. Also i would be grateful for materials on the history of astrology (how and by wich nations it was invented, how time went by and astrology changed with it). Giving great thanks already.

>What I mean by this is why would people give characteristics to planets and stars and relate them to events on our planet same reason people think there's a man in the sky who will punish them if they don't sacrifice a goat. >and why it's kind of working? in what way

>They don't give a broad picture , a fundamental understanding of this system. They probably can't give one because there's none. It's just a bunch of loose associations and tricks that you can freely mix, as long as it make you feel like the weed is finally kicking in. You are interpolating a peak for the mountain, when it's really just a plateau.

>>6466 >>6467 In a way you can't understand because you aren't familiar with astrology on a level higher then knowing what a sun sign and drawing conclusions about someone's personality from it. I am not trying to mock you in any way or pretend that I'm a higher being just because i'm interested in astrology, but judging from my experience that's an answer you would get from a person who knows nothing or a bare minimum about it. Astrology is not a science, and I am not trying to call it such, but judging by what I know, there are enough correlations between, for example, creativity, family life, everyday problems/behaviour and certain positions of the planets in the natal chart of a person (you can apply it to practically almost everything). You can call it presuming but thats the whole point! It's art in some way, i think. If astrology is something bigger then this, wich i can't tell certainly, then it's awesome. Don't get critical of spiritual things so quicly. I like to think over things from a different perspective and astrology is an interpretational system. People were doing this stuff for ages and at least it's interesting from a historical point of view.

I had a couple of books on it but i cant be arsed to dig em out nor can i remember much, if i even read anything. The way i understood things it has much to do with the planetary alignments generating specific flows of energy that then can take effect. I was never much of a firm believer, but the more i look into esoteric things the more i can make of things somehow. Its just one of the 1000s of complex divination methods that have cropped up over the years, there are so many factors at work in those things. As for history i just assume it goes back to ancient times, back then people had some connection to the cosmos, which i think we must yet discover.

>>6468 >In a way you can't understand because you aren't familiar with astrology on a level higher then knowing what a sun sign and drawing conclusions about someone's personality from it. I can't understand what is meant by something "working"? Usually whether something actually works is pretty easy, it either does what it's supposed to or it doesn't. >there are enough correlations between, for example, creativity, family life, everyday problems/behaviour and certain positions of the planets in the natal chart of a person (you can apply it to practically almost everything). How strong are these correlations? Is it possible to make such a prediction reliably without knowing anything else about the person? >>6470 >but the more i look into esoteric things the more i can make of things somehow. esoteric philosophy is really interesting but I think there's a lot of it that gets muddled by the fact so many authors write so obscurely (intentionally or unintentionally).

All of the material on astrology is more focused on how it works because it's an interesting topic to study as an outsider. You're supposed to view it in the same way that most people view fictional stories - completely fake, but fascinating to learn about and form theories on.
