Language through maps
fsociety · 2020-10-15 17:35
Has anyone heard about acquiring a written language through map reading?
Apparently the pictured latin book applies that scheme.
I wonder if conlangs could find some success that way.

I mean, there's maps in the book, but that's not the main part of it. It teaches through simple statements and dialogues, getting more complex as you go along. I don't see how you could learn a language just with maps.

The beginning requires names.
Map features, establish basic abstractions.
Big or little; far or near; full or empty; clear or obstructed; liquid or solid, as well as basic prepositions, one can express with a map.

Well, chapter 1 kind of does that by talking about geographical features to introduce basic structural features of the language. Not sure if that will fulfill all your wildest map-related desires.

I can imagine someone teaching a language with this map.

At first I thought it was a strange circuitboard. I guess the world is kinda like that.

Any idea why alliteration helps?

Trying the apply the technique to Esperanto,
I finished the first page.
I hope to subvert toxic internet nationalists
who tolerate misanthropes exploiting inside-jokes
to patho-generate very dangerous biases, like on 8kun.
Most words seem readily guessed,
but validation from an external source helps.
Necessarily difficult method:
difficulty amplifies remembrance.

I tried to spoiler the thumbnail.
Hopefully tasteful enough to not need.

Such is but also isn't the intention.. well
I forget to mention CC-BY-SA Karbo (the cover only).
The maps I still need permission for.
Macro'es significantly symbolize
the feminine mode for social influence
post-modernity.
Prior to modernity, biological females
imposed influence via maximal anonymity,
un-egalitarian-ly protecting lives and population.
Potential for information entropy
is the scientific factor which predicts
non-deterministic »hawt-ness«.
The symbolism of a macro gts
requires great potential for information entropy
to complete the communication
of what feminine mode social influence truly means
AND
requires expression via animation
to communicate and retain
the custom of anonymity.
