Are graphic novels /lit/ ?
I'm looking for recommendations. Especially the non-super-hero kind.

"Local". It's about a young woman who's anything but.

It may not be in the demographic of most lain readers, but I really enjoyed most of the stuff by Brian Lee O'Malley.
Lost at Sea and Seconds are pretty good coming of age stories about characters that are so real that they may remind you of someone you've met.
Absolutely recommended.

I recommend Transmetropolitan. That's probably my favorite. It's not technically a graphic novel, but you can get it as a mass market paperback or read it online.
Watchmen is also really good and very highly rated in mainstream literature. I'm not a big fan of superhero tropes, but Watchmen handles that sort of theme very uniquely.

Is Global Frequency good? I can get a copy of that, but haven't located all of Transmetropolitan yet.

Girls is a very fun #24 issues long mystery.
I'm not sure where you'd be able to find it online though, the name is like kicking dead whales down the beach for SEO. I can upload somewhere if you can't find it though.

Could you provide us the name of the author(s)? It might help with that SEO thing.

Bone by Jeff Smith, a story about three cousins lost in the valley. Highly recommended to everyone.

Bone is great.
Nausicaa is a classic, though technically a manga.

This hit me with nostalgia. I remember reading that in primary school. There was also another comic I read back then about this brother and sister whose mother gets kidnapped by a monster, and they travel to this world with animal people. Does anyone know the name? I remember I used to love that comic.

The Amulet
I used to read it a while back. Each book, the series seems to take a new direction.

The Sandman by Neil Gaiman
I read it when I was a teenager. It's famous for its use of anthropomorphic personification of various metaphysical entities, while also blending mythology and history in its horror setting within the DC Universe (i stole this paragraph from wikipedia to be honest). It stars the personification of Dreams and co-stars his siblings, Destiny, Death, Desire, Delight, etc.

The artwork for The Future is Now looks sick. Descriptions describe it as an art book though. I'm curious if it is /lit/ at all, or pretty much all art?

Nausicaa is fuarrrking classic. Just as easily classified as "eco-punk" as it is manga.

There is definitely a cohesive narrative in the book but it's hard to read it out since there's no dialogue.

Anything from https://www.drawnandquarterly.com/ I find is really quality stuff.
Its like slice of life sort of.
I tried to post the first two editions along with this post but apparently cbz files aren't recognized and it won't let me upload them.

Manga is just the format, it has nothing to do with the subject matter or genre. What you said is like saying Blade Runner is just as much cyberpunk as it is a movie.

Dreamkeepers is my favourite. Plus you can read all of it for free right now until the next volume comes out, which will also be made free some time in the future
