Lainon might be familiar with how alot of authors may talk about 'speaking' to their characters and letting them 'tell' the story. Some even go as far to say that this is the key to good writing. As someone who's killed their sense of spirituality and cynicised their way out of 'speaking' to character since childhood, I'd like to know how I can do this again.

Holy hell that's a fat lizard I dunno about your question, but I'm just chiming in that I would also love to know how to do this.

Why do you focus on this approach? There is no 'key' to 'good' writing. Why do you want characters in the first place? In my humble opinion, 'speaking' to characters is just a poetic way to summarize imagination and maybe empathy.

the key is communication/time optimization. let readers input the most data in the least time. of course, stay near your defined topic.

>>3404 >imagination and maybe empathy I think this is correct. Empathy yields insight into your fellow man's behavior. Observing and experiencing people creates a storehouse to draw from. When someone speaks to their character they're preforming a sort of high-speed psychological extrapolation based on the character in question. If you're not aware of what's happening it may seem like your interacting with the character.

>>3400 I always thought this an euphemism rather than taking it literally. I guess it comes with organic writing?

>>3400 This is going to sound really autistic, but the best way to write character is to roleplay with yourself. Put yourself in your character's head and ask yourself what you would say or do if you were them
