Look into 80's and 90's books. Computer virus isn't a thing anymore, they are mostly extinct since most people abandoned dos and win9x.

ransomware is very real, but it isn't a virus, or at least not liek the classic 90s viruses. OP still might find some reading about ransomware interesting.
