Anarchism material dump thread
Unknown · 2018-04-14 21:27
Feel free to share books, documentaries and articles on Anarchism.
Remember that this isn't a thread for discussion, this is a dumb thread, so before posting ask yourself: "am i dumping a book/article/study on anarchism or posting an interesting link on the subject of anarchism? Because if i'm not i'm terribly afraid uncle Bakunin will come at night and chop my fingers off"

ooh I like this thread contibootin
>the abolition of work
pretty self explanitory, a critique of work and worker society, proposing ludic alternatives. Should appeal to all you neets.
>Hello from the wired
an introduction to cyber-nihilism. A synthesis of primitivism and transhumanism. It's as crazy as it sounds.
>the coming insurrection
don't wait for the revolution, do it yourself!

>the unique and its property.
Egoism is a very important idea in modern anarchism. "The claim that the individual is the measure of all things."
>god and the state
essential anarchist reading. Unsurprisingly it's about god and the state.

For anyone who hasn't read them yet, Bookchin and Kropotkin are essential anarchist lit.

anarchism as in the political ideology? or anarchism as in blowing soykaf up?

wtf are you even talking about? Every political ideology since the invention of explosives (except pacifism) has somehow eventually involved someone blowing something up.

Early Bookchin maybe. The stuff he wrote near the end was pretty wack, and not only because he drifted from anarchism. Just wack in general and I wonder how senile he was becoming.

Can you elaborate on the book and on Tiqqun's thought in general? I tried to read Introduction to Civil War by them but didn't understand much.

One of the people who worked on Wildcat Comics was interviewed on this radio show. Part two airs this sunday:

The comics are kind of legendary, they were meant as entry level material for people new to anarchist thought but were usually quite critical of the movement too.

I'll try to be as clear as I can. Mind you that this is my interpretation of what Tiqqun means, along with what I think of it, and that I might be wrong, and that there are probably many other interpretations. It's a partial take, and I think that in order to understand their thoughts, one have to read them a bit, read others that wrote about them, and have some time to process and think about it.
Theory of bloom is, imo, one of the core concepts of tiqqun, in the sense that it's a huge part of how they see the world, and its inhabitants today.
Tiqqun aimed at creating a critical metaphysic. Sorry if my english isn't that clear, it's already pretty complicated in my native language. This project is explained at the beginning of the first Tiqqun edition. The way I see it, Tiqqun just isn't happy with the classic rational marxist approach to the social matter, an approach that also takes root in the french Lumières era in some ways. I think they consider that pure rationality wasn't enough to provoke a revolution that is, from all the exploited's point of view, logical. They say that, beyond the material necessities we need to live, our lives regulated by the spectacular societies and the biopower, are soykaf, whether or not our basic needs are met. And that these societies create blooms, what they call a "tonality" of life, which is described by its absence of attachment, identity, sense of belonging, which ends up in mass-manufacturing nihilism. That's what the theory of bloom is about. I think that this book, as well as most of tiqqun and the invisible commitee later, is mostly adressed to white educated males, because the absolute norm we represent contribute to depriving us of feelings of belonging, where oppressed people, for example, women that are permanently essentialized as women can have this collective consciousness and sense of identity more easily. (that's the short short version, and doesn't prevent anyone at all from agreeing with them, it's just a condition that makes it very easier imo).
All in all, Tiqqun's really hard to understand because it's essentially a soykafload of references to philosophers and others authors who where already a mental purge to read (Hegel, Debord, Deleuze, Nietzsche...), written in a very complicated way. I don't agree with everything they say, and they made some pretty terrible stuff too. Also the militants closest to their ideas have, around me tend to have a pretty bad reputation (the problem of coherence between theory and praxis...). Nevertheless, I think they bring decisive points and very interesting insight on what our lives are today. And in this regard, I found the theory of bloom to be exceptionnaly relevant.
tl;dr they say our lives are soykaf because of the Spectacle and Biopower, and just improving the material conditions of our lives won't suffice. We also have to go beyond our nihilism in order to find and invent ourselves new ways to live in a true community "practice the tiqqun" hope it helps a bit

Thank you for the long reply, I am french as well and as you said it's complicated in its own language. Same thing with situationism, which I believe is one of Tiqqun's influence.

I don't know if you're still around, but I finally read it. Still struggling to understand how the bloom isn't just Sartre's unauthentic man or Marx's alienated man. I also read "The Call" which was more political and easier to understand.

Aye, I still come around from time to time.
I haven't read Sartre so I can't answer on that one.
Regarding Marx, his definition and work certainly inspired them. However, as I understood it, Marx's alienated man, the alienation in Marx's work (at least in his most classic and known views) is, simply said, due to the fact that the working class is alienated from the produced goods, the merchandises because it isn't them that decided how to work and what to produce.
In the theory of bloom, every aspect of our lives, every characteristic has been commodified, merchandised, every single aspect (or close to) of our existence has been separated from us, to the point that there is no "us" anymore but the fiction we tell the void that we became (and from which we might reemerge by practicing the tiqqun etc. etc.). This vision, inspired by the extension of capitalism into every aspect of our lives during the last decades, goes in my opinion far far deeper and further than what Marx said, which was mostly restricted to our relation to our work and the merchandise we used to produce. Although I think their reasoning is a bit similar, just taken to a much larger extent.
Yeah, everything signed as the invisible committee is much more accessible. I'm not gonna say that it's the same band of writers, but these books are, to me, Tiqqun vulgarized in a clearer call to action. And as such, much better understood if we go through the hassle of making sense out of tiqqun's writings...
This idea of expanding alienation has been developed in another book, regarding sleep, called 24/7, capitalism's war on sleep or something like that. It's not, properly speaking, anarchist theory, but I found it to be a very precious thing to read too.
