Anyone read his discworld series? Just finished the Color of Magic, and onto the second book now. Seems pretty good, opinions?

>>1923 Good British humor. The first few books with Rincewind are all really good, classics. He wrote a lot of these, some are not as good, some are fantastic. My favorite that I've read must be Going Postal. Great story, great character development, lots of good laughs and some more thoughtful moments as well. If you like Pratchett and haven't read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy yet, I can recommend that as something you'd probably also like but in a different setting, from a different author.

>>1923 I read him a lot when I was a teenager. Almost all of the Diskworld series I think. Great fun! My favorite one is Night Watch, but read some other Ankh-Morpork City Watch books first to get to know the characters.

I used to read him a lot, and one of the things that I remember most was all of the explanatory notes or world building. I really appreciated that. I think my favorite was either "Jingo" or "Interesting Times". What was the first Discworld book Lainon read. Mine was a Graphic Novelization of the first two books, my aunt picked up at the library for me on a rainy day. I really liked the art for the Color of Magic part of it. The first actual novel was Interesting Times.

>>1923 If you're just starting the series, be prepared for a large shift in tone after you finish The Light Fantastic. His writing style changes significantly. It's still good though.

I really enjoy his books, my favourite one is Small Gods, a religious satire with fantastic setting. I can't stand the books about the wytches or whatever they are called, just something about them. also like >>1924 said Addams is pretty great too.
