Small reading club

We are doing a weekly plato readings working up to Thaetetus here: https://byzantinus.net/thread/30 I think there are about five of us currently reading but its always hard to say when everyone is anonymous Week of Aug 10: Euthyphro Week of Aug 17: Apology (essential understanding of Socrates) Week of Aug 24: Meno (essential to understand Plato's epistemology) => Thaetetus Join if you are interested. If you prefer to stay on lainchan then take this thread as an opportunity to write what you think of these works.

>>12364 Seems like a fairly aggressive timeline for someone who's never read philosophy before (not me, just speaking in abstract). Thaetetus is one of my favorite dialogues. I see you are using jowett translation, which is my favorite for "style", although he has a few moments of linguistic obscurity which can be unhelpful (particularly in euthyphro iirc). Maybe I'll come soykafpost in the other thread some time. Any plans to read other platonic works? (I'd recomend some, but honestly I love them all too much to pick favorites). I'm surprised you aren't including Phaedo (after meno, before Thaetetus).

>>12365 I personally changed very quickly from Jowett to other translations. It's possible that we will read Phaedo after Thaetetus. Things are still open and up for change since anyone can make suggestions
