Where can you get a deeper understanding of the archetypes? forums/groups that discuss them?

>>11575 Folklore, fairytales, and mythology is where you get it straight from the tap. Pick a few cultures, read some folklore collections, and start making your own observations about the patterns you see within cultures and across cultures. What characters keep manifesting and what do the stories seem to say about the validity/pitfalls about that particular mode of being? There's no rush in letting other people put their own thoughts into your head. Form your own thoughts first.

>>11575 interacting with a variety of people in different environments. from that you will divine a system of stereotypes that allow you to categorize people better. if you want to learn someone elses archetype system idk read psychology books on it. Seems like a no-brainer.

Read jung and nothing else. The internet is replete with misunderstandings of the word "archetype" from room temps like >>12194 trying to shoehorn cultural prejudice into the idea (protip, jung rejected this exact sentiment in his own life) to slightly more informed, but nevertheless still wildly dishonest ones who try to push this vaguely neoplatonic rhetoric that doesn't come from reading any books either. Rather it comes from watching Jordan Benzodiazepeterson tell you *about* jung, and not read jung himself. The deeper you get into scholarship, the more you realize this sort of thing - reading no name pseuds tell you *about* a canonical philosopher, rather than the philosopher himself, is a serious problem. >>11598 I'm of two minds about this because it seems deeply symptomatic of the problem I talked about earlier in the post. On the other hand, reading folklore and mythology doesn't really harm you and there's okay systems that took archetypes in this direction (even if it wasn't what Jung was doing).
