PRIMITIVE TECH BOOKS THREAD

What old tech books have you guys read/or/have been reading? Currently I'm reading 'Data Processing Concepts' by Colbert. It's pretty old, published in 1968. (I don't know whether to post this in /lit/ or not, but I feel like there would be more replies in here)

It depends on your definition of «tech». If you mean computer tech, I read old 1987 magazine which had printouts of their own OS CP/M rip-off in hexadecimal format. Readers were supposed to solder their own chip programmator (there was schematic), then input a few pages of hex. That seemed pretty hardcore for me. If you mean tech in general, I read early XX century book of household «hacks» - how to drill window glass, anneal glassware, treat wood, make paints and so on.

I have an ANSI C book and javascript book from the 90s. Its hilarious how they talk about the internet.

A cybernetics book: "The human use of human beings" - Norbert Wiener. Pic related: All in all, we're just another brick in the wall.

"Japan in China: Her Motives and Aims" by K.K. Kawakami, 1938. I found it at the library while scooping up books for a research paper. It's pretty much straight propaganda so it's going to be fun. Original copy, too.

>>1968 I've read that book as well. I recommend it. Between that and his other book "cybernetics", "the human use of human beings" is more approachable for those who aren't mathematicians.

I've still got this. I've read a little of it. As a look at the unix philosophy and some oldschool programs that are still used today it's really neat to look back. Just have no use for it beyond that, so on my shelf it sits.
