good soykaf lain but Wolfi Landstriecher's new translation (called The Unique and Its Property) is far superior.
It emphasises the cases where Stirner is using his signature humorous mockery of philosophy, which brings more nuance in many places, which is especially needed in the big which goes into this parody, almost, of Hegel's race related ideas.

Hey, GasMaskBob, thanks for posting in this thread and the last. You've posted some great stuff.
In the last sharethread you posted A Distant Thunder, The Brigade, A Mighty Fortress, and Freedom's Sons in the NW Front series. I checked the nw front website and saw that there was another novel, The Hill of the Ravens. Do you have this novel, or any other books by Covington?

I managed to find the Hill of the Ravens
GasMaskBob · 2017-10-04 06:19
>>1431
Hill of the Ravens is the weakest of the Northwest Front series.
My primary interest in the series is that Covington, who did spend some time as a contractor in Rhodesia (though whether he saw actual combat is debatable) does put a lot of thought and effort into thinking about how a guerrilla campaign in the US would go. Beyond that, his writing is pretty poor; his characters are shallow, and his earlier books can barely tell a coherent story. He does improve with each book, however.
Molon Labe! is a very similar book, written from a libertarian perspective rather than a white nationalist perspective. It focuses on a take-over of Wyoming, followed by a guerrilla campaign when the state secedes from the union. Similar concept to the NWF, basically the same region, but instead of a terror campaign it focuses on sneaky politics, demographics, and other strategies. It's better written too. Good luck finding it in pdf format though.

By the way, is there any interest in The Green Beret Gourmet? It's a book written in the 80's by a retired green beret, and covers different topics on how to make military rations more edible, different methods of cooking (got nothing but sticks and dirt? You want it baked, broiled, or barbecued, 'cause you can do all three.), ways to make things like cat, dog, rat, bugs, etc. taste appetizing, and even how to safely cook and eat humans.
No, really. He tells you how to eat people. He's dead serious. Tells you what body parts to avoid, how to cook it to avoid disease, etc.
Physical copies of the book are incredibly rare, and it's basically nonexistent online; I had to do an old-fashioned search through library catalogues to find someplace that had a copy (university library had one), then convince the librarian to take photos of the pages with his phone and email them to me, because they refused to loan out or transfer such a rare book.
If there's any interest, I'll upload the jpg's if someone feels like converting them all into pdf format.

Not too hard to find for yourself but a relevant current-events book that some lains might want to read for themselves.
The journalist who wrote it managed to get himself deep into the white house seemingly without anyone asking him to sign any NDA or secrecy documents and so has a lot of material to share.

I read this whole thing, and as far as I can tell the author, while trying to justify building AIs, does the exact opposite and instead the whole book makes it seem like a very smart idea to murder everybody who is working on making AIs now, and to keep murdering anyone who tries to make them for the foreseeable future.

For sure. There'd be some problems adapting the non-descriptive parts of the book into visual events, and some ugly betrayals to the material could happen there, but the implementation of the atmosphere and sensorial horror would make for an amazing game.
The parts where the book manages to unsettle and scare you using only scientific acoustic data is one of the most brilliant things I've ever read, and had great impact on me when I was reading it.
Does the chan has a new limit for filesize? I was trying earlier when I made the other post, and did it again now, to post Thomas Ligotti's Noctuary, but it gives me an error every time. File is 25MB, and there are is at least one over 50 in this thread.

Let me put it this way. A lot of traditional medicines actually make a problem you're having worse in the short term until your body fights back and learns to rid itself of the problem. House of Leaves might do the same for fear of the dark.

Armitage · 2018-01-29 22:30
>>1833
The postmodern feel comes mostly from the fact that the author plays with typography to express things. But that's only in some parts of book, it's a bit strange but does not make it bad.
There sure is something experimental about this book, it's more about trying to express a very strange feeling than telling a story.

> postmodern interpretations
Interpretation of what? It's an original work of fiction that tries to tell a story using every single different angle imaginable. It's gimmicky but overall very effective.
One of the things that makes it so creepy is all the scientific angles. Science looks at the phenomena and says it's not possible, for a litany of reasons, yet it's there. They even analyze the video footage from a film making perspective and given the lesser availability of CGI at the time, determine it would gave cost 100s of millions even to fake it.

Advanced Combat Rifle Study: a comparison of the various weapons submitted to the American ACR program, including the HK G11 prototype
HK G11 Brochure: basically a sales brochure for the HK G11 advanced assault rifle and its caseless ammunition.
The G11 has appeared in several anime, notably the ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion, a ton of video games (Fallout 2, Black Ops, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, etc.), and a non-firing mockup used to test the weapon's ergonomics was used to portray a particle beam weapon in the live-action film Demolition Man.
GasMaskBob · 2018-05-02 17:12
HK G11 Armorer's Manual, Volumes 1 and 2
HK has a strict policy of never publishing user manuals, much less armorer's manuals (which are more in-depth on technical data) for its prototypes or weapons that are exclusively for military use, such as the G11 caseless assault rifle or the P11 underwater pistol (which, to this day, HK refuses to even admit to making this special forces-exclusive weapon), making this the first time I have EVER managed to get my hands on something like this. Previously, the closest I could get was sales brochures; an actual user manual was forever unobtainable. The only reason I was able to get this is because it's actually a US publication for the version of the G11 submitted to the American ACR trials, and it was accidentally made available. An actual user manual or HK-published document still remains out of my grasp and likely always will. Still, this is just as good, since it lets you see exactly how this futuristic space marine rifle and its ammunition functioned.
A note for those interested: the version of the G11 submitted to the ACR trials was an older prototype, the K41, which still had several issues relating to reliability and maintenance that the production version, the K2, had solved around the same time as the ACR trials. The G11K2 was officially adopted for use by the West German army prior to the clusterfuck of issues that led to its adoption being rescinded, while the American ACR program was shut down for being too expensive.

Also, communism is the philosophy of envious losers and has consistently produced mass-murdering, oppressive regimes that inevitably collapse because, surprise, socialism is a soykafty economic system. >compTIA Linux+/LPIC 1 cert?
A book review from someone who passed that exam the first time:
https://www.amazon.com/CompTIA-Certification-LX0-103-LX0-104-101-400/dp/0071841687
The exam isn't practical (nor do I think it's intended to be). It's pedantic as all get out. There are hundreds of great Linux administration books out there (and even better support in the online community), but one doesn't buy this book as an admin guide. You buy it to prepare for the CompTIA Linux+ exam. The book falls short.
I've taken industry exams previously (IT and finance), and the material in this book was further divorced from the real exam than anything I've sat for previously. About 20% of the questions I saw on the exam were not addressed in the book whatsoever (e.g. 'noclobber,' 'batch'). About the same number were covered in a totally different syntax than what the exam tested (e.g. chown and creating bash functions). In fairness, the author cautions that no one knows for sure what CompTIA will put on the test, but I found better analogs to the real test for free online (not in sufficient quantities, mind you). With this in mind, I have a hard time believing that CompTIA is such a bastion of secrecy that the author, who holds this certification himself, can't get any closer to the real thing (with apologies to Mr. Tracy if that's the case).
...
To end on some hopefully constructive advice to others seeking this Cert:
- start by reading the CompTIA objectives (all 150-ish of them)... I foolishly put that off till near the end. Prioritize your study accordingly.
- set up either an OpenSUSE or CentOS machine AND a Debian/Ubuntu machine, and take it upon yourself to learn the differences between them, especially in /etc and environment variables.
- Having not purchased any other books for this exam, I can't recommend an alternative, but I would start by using the “Look Inside” feature to compare other books' chapter review questions to the (limited) preview questions on CompTIA's (and other) sites; hopefully that will point you in a better direction.
