The vast majority of my pdf's are military or political, including weapon manuals, tactics, care and maintenance of personal equipment, Boy Scout manuals, etc. Please let me know if these sorts of things are acceptable to upload, as I have quite a few rare and obscure ones, including a Hitler Youth physical fitness manual (in the original German only, no translation; the Allies went to great lengths to destroy all Nazi physical training handbooks and techniques for some reason.).

Not a Nazi, just have a historical/political interest in their stuff. I would have shared the Communist Manifesto if I knew which folder it was in. Hell, I posted the Unabomber's manifesto. I don't necessarily agree with any of the philosophical/political books I post, I just share them because knowledge is power.
If we're ok with military manuals and the like being posted, I supposed I can post some of those.

Unfortunately, my pdf for Damocles Mission is too large to post; you should look it up, it comes with a genuinely creepy short story to set the mood. Basically, an alien spacecraft arrives in orbit and NASA sends a shuttle to board it; the astronauts have to solve puzzles (intelligence tests) to advance deeper and deeper into the spacecraft, they slowly start to realize that the alien vessel they're in is bigger on the inside than on the outside, and they're all slowly becoming paranoid and insane the further they go. Check it out, it's an obscure and cool microgame.

Just read let's become dangerous, found it too romantic.
Regarding anonimity, they forgot to say that Ulysses paid the act of shouting his name by being haunted by Poseidon, and in general the manifesto is quite appealing and well-written, but has no connection with reality and lacks of practical organization. Saying that an antifascist/anticapitalist alliance is a bad idea makes no sense and is dangerous: we are already few, if we begin to split in thousand little groups it will end up like spanish civil war. Ironically they (FAI) call themselves "nichilists" but they are too ideologically driven to accomplish anything more than a few front pages on local newspapers.

This is cool, I still have a stack of the hard copies, for a short while in the 80s and 90s the army also made a series of comic books to assist illiterate/ poor reading skill soldiers in the maintenance and repair of everything from tanks to helicopters to rifles, iconic characters such as talking guns and tanks and the ghost of incomplete maintenance past

GasMaskBob · 2017-05-15 23:34

Funny story, we stole that from the Germans. The very first comic-style military manual was the maintenance manual for the Panzer V Panther tank. German military manuals were so dry that tank crews didn't bother reading them, so they made comic books for the Panther and Tiger tanks. They feature a tank crewman, a talking tank, and a bikini-clad American bimbo (for some reason), and all of the instructions were in short, rhyming verses that made them easy to remember. They were very popular.
Think you can find/make scans of those comic manuals? I don't have any of the 80's/90's ones.
Somewhere, I'm having trouble finding them, I also have the comic manual for the VADS (Fastest Gun in the West, featuring a cowboy gunslinger) and a late 70's A-10 Warthog comic showing the pilot where to aim his gun when strafing Soviet tanks (the most hilarious part is where it shows the different views of the tanks, from top, sides, front, rear, etc. and likelihood of a 30mm round penetrating... and then in a dry, deadpan tone it shows the underside of a tank and says "if you can see the underside of a Soviet tank, either the Russians fuarrrked up or you did. Shoot it anyway.").

It really pisses me off that we had working technology in the 1960's that could get us to Mars or even the outer solar system in a matter of months, not years, it was fully functional, and we've never actually used it. Had we launched Project Daedalus, Project Longshot, or any of the other nuclear-powered interstellar space probes, they'd be arriving in nearby star systems and transmitting their data RIGHT NOW, giving us our first close look at another star system. We could have sent a manned mission to Mars in the 1970's, with a three month trip instead of a three year trip. We could be mining asteroids, sending manned missions to the gas giants and their moons, and colonizing space. We could have revolutionized life for all of humanity and elevated the wellbeing of the entire planet.
Nope, better scrap all that technology, we need the budget for welfare programs and blowing up brown people that can't fight back halfway around the world.

I saw that kind of gun in an anime and thought to myself "hah that's bullsoykaf there's no way they would make anything like that in real life", but now here I am reading it's manual.
Keep surprising me, /lit/!

The trigger pull on that thing is terrible, by the way. Incidentally, it's the gun the replicant who was asked the turtle question pulls on the guy testing him in Bladerunner.
Calico M900/M950 Manual (this shows up in a lot of sci-fi movies too)
HK G11 caseless assault rifle brochure (a dummy appeared in Demolition Man as a gauss rifle, it made an appearance in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and it really is a futuristic space marine rifle... too bad it got shelved because of politics)

I often feel that aggression towards others is completely out of place and so I usually heed my friends to calm and reflect on their anger instead of embracing it and let their emotions fuel them. But that can't be all there is to it. I feel like there are good things about anger too. Things that make it emotionally right an justified to embrace your negative and aggressive feelings from time to time.
So.. yeah that's kindof what I want help with.

That's why I recommended Thompson, he was afflicted by crippling fear, and as a sort of sink-or-swim strategy, became a bouncer. He rose to the top in a very tough profession, but turned into a complete arsehole in the process, and it ruined his marriage. So he had to find the way to deal with both fear and aggression, and became a self-help guru.

Project Pluto (Cold War doomsday weapon that came very close to actually being built: basically a nuclear scramjet-propelled cruise missile, flying at mach 3, that farted radioactive fallout everywhere it flew, carried a payload of 20 nuclear warheads with a 1 megaton yield each, could stay in flight for several months, and when it ran out of fuel and crashed or got shot down by Soviet air defenses would create a miniature Chernobyl thanks to its onboard reactor; the guidance system was reused for the Tomahawk cruise missile, other design features got used on other missiles, but the one prototype that was built was only tested once, on the ground, and never flown because people were worried about it farting radioactive fallout over the US.)

The S.L.A.A.M., wasn't it? Great idea, basically an unshielded nuclear reactor that dropped nuclear bombs, it also flew at treetop height, so if it flew over you it was a toss-up whether the radiation would kill you before the sonic boom did.
Also note it used a fission reactor to heat air for the scramjet, with no fuel, so it would stay up until the parts wore out. Cunt of an idea.
GasMaskBob · 2017-05-23 17:23
>>772
The radiation wouldn't be immediately lethal, it would fly past too quickly to give a massive dose. The shockwave from the sonic boom, on the other hand, would be lethal within a couple hundred yards of the missile as it flew overhead, and the radioactive fallout it spewed in its wake would prove a lingering threat.

Note: The above novels are part of the Northwest Front series. They are fictional accounts of white separatists waging guerrilla war to break off part of the US to form an independent ethno-state, ala Israel. Yes, it features realistic depictions of revolution/guerrilla war, violence, and racism. Obviously it's going to offend SOMEONE. But, beyond that, it's a pretty good read and the author (who did spend time fighting communist guerrillas in Rhodesia) obviously did his research as far as figuring out how a modern revolution in America would actually be fought and how it could realistically win. So, as far as literature goes, it's a step above the "classic" Turner Diaries in that regard (The Turner Diaries being just straight up racist masturbation, where the white supremacists win via deus ex machina and not because they're actually good at what they do).

For reference, I honestly believe the Anarchist Cookbook was written by the FBI with the intent of harming any anarchists/communists that read it.
None of the drug recipes work, the explosives recipes leave out important steps or safety information (such as "don't let it get above this temperature, or it will explode in your face" or "this produces clouds of poison gas, so you'd better be wearing protective gear or doing this in a very well ventilated area"), and the rest of the information was mostly obsolete by the late 70's/early 80's.

I'd like to see more variety in our sharethreads, personally.
